you mean we can plant it ourselves? where can get it?
I am just curious and i might try to do it  tongue.gif

Hey ya! Yes, you can grow it your self in our weather. Go to an organic shop, look for wheat GRAIN. If you can get WINTER WHEAT GRAIN even better. Wheat grass bring many many benefit due to the high chyrofileld(Wrong spelling).
BUT when you grow it your self, you need to make sure the mold does not form, this need your enviroment and some experience to achevied that. Get a 2-3 inc tray, poke hole, put in to soil, soak your grain for 4 hours, sprinkle on top of the soil, cover with newspaper, wait till sprout, take out for sun, water daily ONCE. 7-8dyas later harvest. biggrin.gif

I am curious can GPs poo can be plant fertilizer? If can then i can start to grow some plants lor...small portion first...
*
Can. Cause GPs is vegetarian. Their poo is save to use it for fertiliser, jsut like rabbit. But you need to compost it first. OR you can dig a hole, buried all your bedding and poo in pot, wait for 2-3 month, then you can use the soil to grow you vege and plant, FULL OF POWERFUL FERTILISER. But you cannot use it directly to your plant, it wont work that fast or may kill your plant.

Haha, later your housemate plant may get kill or you will smell stinky odor flooding around your housemate's room, cause the poo is decomposting in "cold compost".

hahaha... cannot la, the composting process will make the nutrient available to the plant. Even those you powder it, it have not be compost. In the mist of composting, bacteria will convert those poo into valueable fertiliser to the plant, without that the plant wont be able to absorb anything from the poo. Powder the poo will make the composting result become faster, and in the mist of composting, bacteria will draw nutrient from the soil to do the job, if you sprinkle the poo on to the soil, the plant will suffer from malnutrient due to the bacteria taking all the nutrieint do compost the poo you put on it. smile.gif

I kept rabbit before.  The key differences are:-

Rabbit does not required high vitamin C at all time.  GP does.
Male rabbit  bites - 90% GP doesn't.

LIMIE feed this brand, if I'm not mistaken.

This brand is quite expensive as compared to Hagen.  But I don't know why it doesn't have the green freshness smell like Hagen pellets have.

Last time I wanted to buy this brand when I read the marketing text on the net.  Sound very good and nutritious.  After I had seen the real pellets, I'm not convinced it is any better than Hagen pellets with its higher price.
*
i think its because hagen pallets have mix with alfalfa hay that why there is fressh green smell in them

Thats why we need to rotate their food often.. cant eveyday be same menu sad.gif same like us.. if eat nasi lemak everyday... sure beh tahan rite XD
*
i dunno about GP but for dogs have to give them the same Menu everyday cuz they are very picky when comes to food when they know they can have better food they will not eat any other food then that so for dogs we cant change food unless u r doing it for good

colincsf>> i suggest to quickly change the food, as the content of the previous food you gave them are not good for GPs. nuts and grains especially. i did bought and gave my gp the exact brand you gave to them long ago, and my gp have bad experienced with kuaci...when she try to eat it the kuaci stuck between her teeth and upper lip...she struggle like crazy until i oso became mega-panic.... rclxub.gif they oso did not gain weight as much as a growning GP should, i guess its because lack of nutrition. other from Hagen pallets and timothy/alfalfa hay, you should gave them some fresh fruits too, for vit C happy.gif you dont have to gradually change the food, just completely remove the old food and replace the pellets, they will learn to eat by themselves. Hagen pellets are good as they the pellets have fresh sweet smell that might lure ur gp to eat it.

Hagen pellet is i think 1 of the best for gp.
1) coz its easier to get the Sluis/Kaytee/Prestige/other brands plus its reasonable price too
2) cos of the size>>big and crunchy pellets GP love to chew on, can help trim their teeth oso happy.gif
3) the smell of fresh ingredient>> the pellets are in secure-sealed bag, easy to store, and you can smell the sweet freshness on the pellet, they smell like green, fresh hay. even if i open the pellet bag far from my GP they oso can smell and wheek2...begging for it haha  rclxm9.gif
*
ok yea will change their food asap as they have just eaten those grain and nut food for like 2weeks.I actually even notice pet shop giving the pet eating pellet instead of those grain type of food

Since you mentioned that they are a pair, most likely the female doesn't want the male one to hump (rape) her, so fight lor....

I have seen that happen in my own GPs, as long as they are not fight till bleeding , just let them be, eventually the male one have to respect the female's decision not to have sex lor....

since u guys been talking bout hagen pellets, i wanna ask something.

i'm using hagen pellets too for my GP. she was eating it alot. but since i've been handfeeding her carrots and fresh veggies, now i seldom see her jump into feeding bowl and eat the pellets. only when i put the fresh pellets, she will eat. not the old one. haih. should the pellet served fresh daily? how about the leftovers? should i throw out? :-s aiyo so rugi.

and one more thing. i'm using sun dried alfalfa for my GP. this is the same scenario also. she only eats the fresh one out of the plastic bag. and left those big big "dahan" of alfalfa behind. GP dont eat those big dried alfalfa dahan? only the small dried leafs (and the small dahan)?

Finch my GP's also like that smile.gif so dont pour too much.. estimate how much she will be eating. Usually when the pellets like got dust (from them chewing) they wont touch the pellets.. So throw smile.gif dont worry about rugi.. having a healthy GP is better ><

You can try mixing the alfalfa with some timothy, but more alfalfa than timothy (since she is still growing). Yes the dahan mine also dont eat XD picky buggers they are doh.gif But just make sure that there is hay stock 24/7. Hay usually they will finish.. doesnt matter old or fresh from the bag.. cheers laugh.gif
