QUOTE(amenlo9 @ Dec 6 2007, 01:32 PM) if i want to ubuntu,do i need to find hardware driver like modem, wireles etc for ubuntu? No need bro, depends on your PC manufacturer. For example, my dell PC no need any extra drivers to install ubuntu. Just plug in all your hardware (e.g printer or etc) before running setup, Ubuntu will auto-detect and install drivers for you. Added on December 10, 2007, 9:08 pmAnother new Linux distro - Vixta. This post has been edited by ubuntu: Dec 10 2007, 09:08 PM

If you afraid Ubuntu will causing hickup with your Intel laptop, you could run the Ubuntu live CD first, try playing the sample song, short movie (already contain in live CD). If no problem with display and sound, that's mean your Ubuntu support your PC's hardware.

Does windows online driver search ever work? If you know your broadcom NIC model, just go to the vendor website and see if they release any linux drivers for it. If not, try with ndiswrapper.

I'm using Celeron 667 with only 256MB and a 30GB IDE Hard Disk. I've installed Ubuntu 7.10 and it's lagging all the way. My system can't handle it. But I manage to install Deluge just to test the speed. Would you guys recommend me any distro that is suitable for me. Main task is for office, web surfing, a lil' bit of movies and torrent. A few more questions bout Damn Small Linux, debiankl recommend me this, but can I install DELUGE, bittorent client in DSL? And also share files with XP OS thruough LAN? And how to download DSL?

Alternate CD I only used Live CD and installed it on my old rig. Added on January 4, 2008, 9:45 amAlso, I need information regarding my questions before about Damn Small Linux. Coz, there is no point if I installed it at my old rig but can't use torrent and run movies. This post has been edited by skymyxe: Jan 4 2008, 09:45 AM

newbie here. between mandriva and ubuntu, which one is easier to configure? i mean which one have the least amount of tinkering to do and just work out of the box? i had installed ubuntu both in virtual and real install, and i can't seem to get it working well. how about mandriva? does it have large collections of drivers? sorry if my questions is out of topic.
