I don't see much lcd with s-video input for a moment(exclude dell s2408)...
Btw, seems like more ppl are using 22' lcd with hdcp which supports 1920x1080 resolution.

720p movies not necessary 16:9.
720p movies can have resolutions other than 1280x720.
movies with 1280x720 will be stretched to fill the whole screen (reduction in quality) or with black borders. it's up to the media player used to play the movies.
720p movies has high resolution that looks good on any 19" widescreen (unless the lcd is too lousy).

I know not necessary 16:9 but for the best movie experience without black borders, I need a monitor with 16:9 right?

QUOTE(lex @ Feb 14 2009, 09:07 PM)
Why don't you get a 20" widescreen with 1600x900 resolution like Acer X203H or Samsung 2033SW? The Acer one costs almost the same price as a 19" widescreen LCD monitor.  wink.gif
*
Is the Acer one reliable? I heard from one guy that many people complained about Acer monitor. Just wanna confirm laugh.gif

The cheapest monitor with 16:9 is Acer? Is there other brand around 19" that has 16:9 aspect ratio?

Sorry for the inconvenience yea icon_rolleyes.gif

EDIT: I noticed that Acer has 3 years warranty right? If it's true then I might as well get the Acer one because I am not planning to use it for more than 3 years.

I have an ancient Acer AL1717A (8ms, 1280x1024), still going strong. Recently I got one Acer X203H for a client, the problem was the stand can't fit in.. so I RMA and got back a new one instead. Anything else, the monitor looks fine. Thus when buying that monitor, please test first and make sure the stand fits. nod.gif

Those "19-inch" 16:9 ones are not really 19" at all but are 18.5".... thus smaller than normal 19" widescreen (16:10 ones). wink.gif

hey guys , i lazy to browse the page in front ,sry if this question has been asked many times biggrin.gif

i connect my 2233SW to my laptop vga output ( intel X3100 ) , and i use it as my primary display , i notice that when the resolution is set at 1920 x 1080 , the screen is flicker (Not super obvious that one la ), Any resolution below 1920 x 1080 will not have the flicker on screen . i know this is due to the 60Hz refresh rate , but it is very noticeable when sitting 0.5m in front the lcd , will u guys face same problem ? hmm.gif

Battlestar Galactica looks very sweet on 16:9 indeed. May I know what resolution are you using to play that? 1080?

Ah btw, I'm using a 7300GS Graphic Card. Will I have problem watching 720p movies on the Acer X203H?

According to the 7300GS Specification, the card supports PureVideo Technology which supposedly helps to improve performance when watching HD movies, I don't know to which extent is this statement true.

If watching the 720p movie on my 17" CRT monitor doesn't lag, will it be the same when I have a new LCD?

Most of the softwares to play HD formats uses software instead of hardware.. So it doesn't really matter with the graphics card. I use a 4850 and I'm still using coreavc as my decoder.
