Your monitor sizes comparison doesn't have 17" widescreen. Anyway, I added that one here....

QUOTE(qwerty79 @ Nov 3 2008, 12:30 AM) Any free software to calibrate lcd monitor? So far I only use software from Samsung, MagicTune. Look at the first post on this thread. For example, the "LCD Monitor Test Images" link is quite useful... ( http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ ) |

QUOTE(FaezFarhan @ Jan 9 2009, 02:12 AM) Does anyone know how much is T220HD..? You mean the BenQ one? Its around RM569... Samsung also has a similar model number, "T220".. some confusion here methinks.. |

Could be CPU bottleneck or PCIe bottleneck... Anyway, check ABit NF-M2S specifications..

QUOTE(jedi_dc @ Jan 30 2009, 01:42 PM) does it make much difference?. im thinking, its my IDE 80GB WD harddisk.. its 5 years + old already, might be that. will it affect the speed of games?. cause i'm only having problem with undercover, .. games like call of duty 4 and 5, are no problem at max settings.. i had similar problem with prostreet.. If you are talking about NFS Undercover, that game doesn't runs smoothly on AMD processors. You can check this PCGH - Need for Speed Undercover: GPU and CPU benchmark review - Need for Speed Undercover, NfS, Review, graphics card, CPU, Processor, Test, Benchmark, performance:. Try checking the game publisher's site for patches and updates. I've updated my drivers all.. latest afaik. Maybe its my PSU?.. im running ST40F, with 2 CCFL , 1 LED fan .. |

QUOTE(digita1tech @ Feb 1 2009, 03:17 AM) My current monitor isĀ going to die anytime now........my 8600GT alreadydied some time ago......... Due to HD4670 graphics card, I would say any of these panels... So i plan to buy LCD......but don't know which size suits me.....okay the situation....i want to buy hd4670 for my gaming card.......which native resolution or LCD size suits....im kinda tight budget.......very tight... Don't suggest GC itself as many hardcore gamers here will suggest those monster(HD4850 or somthin similar) for current gaming..... Note: I have AMD 5000+ laying around as now im using the old 3500 for temporary...thx~! - 15" (1024x768) - 15" widescren (1280 x 720) - 15.6"/16" widescreen (1366 x 768) - 17" widescreen (1440x900) - 17" (1280x1024) - 18.5" widescreen (1366x768) - 19" widescreen (1440x900) - 19" (1280x1024) ==> most recommended due to big screen size and ideal resolution for HD4670 Depends on your budget... Can't recommend any unless you tell us how much you are willing to spend. If you want to use 22" widescreen (1680x1050) or or bigger, minimum is a 256-bit card like 9600GT... QUOTE(XBB @ Feb 1 2009, 09:29 AM) im getting a new monitor today and decided to go for samsung 2233sw to replace my 17'' crt ... can i ask which shop offers the cheapest price in low yat plaza? the min price offered and the max price it can reach currently in low yat I guess is cheapest is around RM564 at Viewnet (varies from shop to shop, maybe Thundermatch and Jayacom also), thus you'll have to look around.. QUOTE(ahbeng2 @ Feb 2 2009, 12:46 AM) what the best 16:10 22inch monitor now Depends on your budget... If can afford Samsung, then go ahead.. This post has been edited by lex: Feb 2 2009, 08:23 AM |

QUOTE(terryble @ Feb 11 2009, 12:01 AM) but 1 thing damn scary.. Tell me about it.. Very well known already, those Samsung stands. I also had problems fixing them.. need a lot of brute force to snap the base in.. its damn damn hard to fix the stand to the monitor.. the rubber is just not rubber..it is a piece of VERY STURDY plastic!!! imagine u have to force 2 piece of sturdy plastic together.. i used all the strength i hv with my body weight to force it in..it took me 20mins of EXERCISING until it finally got in.. |

QUOTE(xcen @ Feb 14 2009, 07:01 PM) From what I understand, 720p movies have 16:9 aspect ratio, with the native resolution of 1280x720, am I right? Why don't you get a 20" widescreen with 1600x900 resolution like Acer X203H or Samsung 2033SW? The Acer one costs almost the same price as a 19" widescreen LCD monitor. I am planning to buy a 19" LCD Monitor but I've noticed many of them comes with 1600x900. The aspect ratio is the same as 720p movies, but what will the movies look like since the resolution of the movie is just 1280x720? |

QUOTE(xcen @ Feb 14 2009, 11:57 PM) I know not necessary 16:9 but for the best movie experience without black borders, I need a monitor with 16:9 right? I have an ancient Acer AL1717A (8ms, 1280x1024), still going strong. Recently I got one Acer X203H for a client, the problem was the stand can't fit in.. so I RMA and got back a new one instead. Anything else, the monitor looks fine. Thus when buying that monitor, please test first and make sure the stand fits. Is the Acer one reliable? I heard from one guy that many people complained about Acer monitor. Just wanna confirm You can check my short review here: Acer X203H Short Review QUOTE(xcen @ Feb 14 2009, 11:57 PM) The cheapest monitor with 16:9 is Acer? Is there other brand around 19" that has 16:9 aspect ratio? Those "19-inch" 16:9 ones are not really 19" at all but are 18.5".... thus smaller than normal 19" widescreen (16:10 ones). 16:9 movie test on Acer X203H monitor.... No black borders.. QUOTE(Zmir @ Feb 22 2009, 02:19 AM) Hey guys, can help me recommend a monitor? What is your budget first? And also what is your PC hardware specifications? Got some questions and some requirements: Massive Gaming, so i need low response time? For gaming, not sure if i need a bigger screen with same reso or smaller screen with same reso, Especially for gaming! coz I wanna be able to see a piece of dust move a mile away in my games! will HDMI be much clearer/faster/better or anything compared to DVI? Any advantages? Price doesnt matter (But dont wanna pay extra for stuff i dont need) 2209w using ips and 2409w not using ips isit? Will ips have effect on gaming? (heard it has higher response times, so ghosting or somesort?) High dynamic contrast matters? (In game/ movies?) I want a good stand, one that doesnt shake like mad when ur typing! Didnt really do my research on this, hope u guys can help me out~ I was thinking of Dell 2209w/2409w/ Samsung 2433BW.. BenQ/Asus also good? Any brand is ok for me, up to u guys to recommend! Thanks in advanceeee and sorry if ask too much lol |

@xk2, have you tried the test image I've posted? Is there and visible banding on the lower half of the image (around the color transition to darker areas)?
