Hi Jefizz,

If u already set on total budget, the next step is
(1) decide on the configuration of your setup as it will determine what item you need and what infrastructure you need. For eg running active will require at least 6-channel for tweets, midbass abd sub so either 1 6-ch amp or 2 amps (2-ch and 4-ch) or 3 amps (all 2-ch). That will entails different wiring confg and installation costs as well. Running passive will require less channels hence probably less amps and definitely less wiring.
(2) Once item is decided, to allocate budget by items. That will facilitate your buying process of all the items that you need.

No need to think about external processing yet. That can come later if you think you need that. As a start, spend on HU that has some built-in processing options such as EQ and crossover. HU that falls under that category is abundant nowadays

Since you like 2nd items, I got nothing much to say. Just 1 advice, becareful....
But I think you make it wrong, to get SQ gears is not expensive, as long as you meet the right person and the right time.

As a start, run passive with good components.
So, a HU, 4-ch amp to drive a comp set and a sub (bridged). Buy 2nd hand amp (old school also can), buy less than 5-year good comps, buy 3nd hand sub also can. HU if good model max one year or buy new. Spend say RM300-400 for wiring and installation. I am sure RM3K is enough to get a decent system

Pioneer P80 (roughly RM1600) and Alpine 9887 (roughly RM1300) but my preference is still the P80 with its outstanding built quality and tuning options.

1 more vote from me.....if u had used 7100 b4, u will regret to change to p80 although it seems more better than 7100 in specs...

Can recommend me where to get Eclipse 7100 for less than RM1K (if that is the price for a new HU)? Heard of a system comprises the 7100 and it sounds good too. But hate the flimsy volume knob. Looks very fragile and the CD eject mechanism is not as smooth as the Pioneer.

robin, of coz not new la.... some + points (i had use p80/7998/9835)

- excellent flexible crossover - unlike p80 sad.gif
- 8v preout- they sound much much better than my previous 7998 which i find it lacking, thin and dry sounding. (rest of the system stays the same btw)
- USB input - big plus for me since im using this most of the time. Plus getting a usb isnt very expensive compared to mp3 player..

well, i think i've made a mistake on the series name, dark blue is the correct name. anyway, i'll go check it out & ensure it is dark blue & not some cap ayam, deep blue.

thks ckmoy007 & howiechoo...

its an old skool brand but its not an old school model, anyway cobalt is entry level range and i think theyre not made in US anymore..

id prefer to look for old XTR models, or the HCCA ones, much better, however they do have their own problems, hehe, or else everyone and their dog will be using it
