i will do the HU part... haha. besides the normal cd players u see dat can play cd, mp3 and stuffs, there r some other types too. Besides that, HU can be categorized into different price group to compare the 'ability' of each HU in that particular group. But i wun be talking about price groups here...
*Correct me if i'm wrong*

1. Processor based HU (with built in processor on board or external processor), mostly mid end products... Gives u more flexibility for sound tuning compared to ordinary cd players.
some examples of the mainstream products,
-Alpine 9887, 9855, 7889, first 2 can pair with external processor like PXA-H701
-Pioneer P80RS
-Pioneer DEX-P9R + DEQ -P9RS(external processor)
-Eclipse 7100, 3100
and so on...

2. Pure Deck, meaning it's almost functionless except for some hi end dedicated signal processors, can't read MP3 and stuffs, no amp, not much extra bonuses, the main job is just to read the CD and give out uncompromised clean and clear signal to amp or proccessor. Most Hi End car HU r of this type.

-Denon DCT-1
-Nakamichi CD-700II
-Sound Monitor CDT-450x
-Clarion HX-D1
-Pioneer ODR D7xII
-Alpine F1 7990
and so on.

3. Some r hybrid of 1 and 2, ampless player but consists of modern technologies, like able to read MP3, bluetooth and stuffs while also able to give out hi quality signal.

Anders, If wanna list out all the cap ayam, it's quite impossible, they r evolving too fast.

zilole, cannot say like dat, some branded that u neva heard b4 and think it's funny, become cap ayam lo. Like OZ audio, u think it copied OZ Racing, tot it's cap ayam, die lo. haha.

it's in the list, hi quality i suppose.

addzest = clarion
carrozeria = pioneer

juz in different market got different name. most of addzest and carrozeria r for japanese market.

Japan, so does clarion, eclipse and alpine.

maybe if u compare stellar with those real SPL brands, then it's different... not mohawk or ameron. Brands like Earthquake, Rockford Fosgate, even Pioneer can do better i suppose. It's juz the matter of how deep ur pockets are...

r u trying to classify Pegasus with Helix, DLS, Rainbow, Seas and etc... u will get flamed by the pros, my fren, i will give it low to mid end lvl, juz my 2 cents tho. we discussing bout built quality and sound quality of a particular brand. not SPL or SQ... as long the built quality is gud, can go loud without the sound sux, gud linear graph in lab tests, i believe it will fall into hi quality category.
It's impossible to list out every single brand. juz some of the more renowned brands r discussed more often. Cheers...

Added on November 5, 2008, 8:49 pmSQ and SPL depends a lot on tunings and design of system... some brands r universal, like Helix, JL Audio, JBL Gti and DLS as i know of, can go SPL as well as SQ. juz depends on how u tune them. There r some brands that are more dedicated to either one, example: SEAS, Scanspeak, Dynaudio are more to SQ. While Rockford Fosgate, Kicker, and Earthquake are more to SPL.

maybe u can put in Hi Quality Malaysia Boleh category, but i think it's designed by audiopega in USA but dunno made in where.
