i want to buy edifier R501 soon, i hope you all can help me regarding the speaker setup, want to have some guide on the speaker placing, below is the pictures of my living room, i've posted this at the speaker recommendation thread but no people layan me
if i want to connect my PS3 to r501, what input should i use?? rca?? optical i think not support by the speaker right? or it will be better if i use L and R output at the TV? just now i went to the electrical shop nearby my house, that guy say the speaker cable (open end, wires only without jack) is RM3 for 1 meter, is it expensive?? the colour of the speaker wires is transparent QUOTE(amduser @ May 28 2009, 09:58 AM) so i have to output my PS3 sound to TV via HDMI then connect the speaker to TV right? then will i have some degrade in sound quality? my PS3 also have rca output. will upload picture of my living room later. here is the picture of my living room, quality are bad, taken using handphone only » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « should i attach the front left and front right at the corner of the ceiling in front or just left it somewhere at the TV? the rear speaker that mounted at the rear put at the upper corner of the ceiling? and the speaker direction face where is better? the sofa or the TV? |

About to pull a trigger on S330.
My old Alter Lansing crap just gave up last night. I listen to rock/alternative/acoustic stuff mostly. My sound card is an Echo Audiofire 4. Clarity is more important to me than bass. Any better suggestions? This post has been edited by blizzzy: Jun 6 2009, 10:11 PM |

QUOTE(blizzzy @ Jun 8 2009, 08:07 PM) e3100 better than s330? Can't be right? monitor speakers are on a different league! they are called monitor speakers for a reasion ;pThinking of getting 1 monitor speaker yamaha instead of PC speakers. What do you guys think? also, you will need a good soundcard, amp, cables, room acoustics and listening position for very high detailed monitor speakers |

Let's think logic, will a company produce a product that has better quality at lower price and a product that has a lower quality but higher price? It does not make sense right..??Thinking of getting 1 monitor speaker yamaha instead of PC speakers. What do you guys think? |

yup thats what I thought. The reply from Power911 boggled me.
Haihz.. I'm running a Firewire Interface called Echo Audiofire 4. Is this considered a good soundcard? The thing is wanna blow 400 bucks on PC speakers might as well add a bit get a yamaha active monitor can use at home for PC and can use in private studio for recording and jamming. Powered monitors don't need amp. Syok also.. Just wondering which is nicer to have. If I go for monitors, I'll only have 1 speaker for now. No subs or anything but can upgrade later. If I go for S330 or S530D, I'll be stuck with it for a while. Hmmmmz. For the price of S530D can get Yamaha HS50M Powered Monitor. But seeing the comments here, I should stay away from S530D because I clean honest sound. I like bass tight and not over-expressed for music. QUOTE(blizzzy @ Jun 8 2009, 10:36 PM) yup thats what I thought. The reply from Power911 boggled me. In that case i think the monitors will be better for you, because u want clean sound...I presume that means a flat frequency respond. I have never audition those monitors before, so i cant say anything about the difference in soundstage, vocal presentation etc etc.... Plus u mention that the monitor can use in private studio for recording and stuffs, so in this case the monitors are best value for you and suit your taste. And your soundcard is meant for recording purposes also. If u want to record professionally, u must use good monitors, u cant use speakers like edifier as the sound is "shaped" (Its because most malaysian recording studios have poor monitors and equipment, when u hear the song in the CD, its mix is very unbalanced. For example in the studio, the monitors have poor high frequency response, so the sound engineer increase the high frequency to compensate, which destroys the mix because the treble is actually already quite loud, but due to the poor studio's system, it sounds soft to the engineer) But still over these few years, malaysian made music is starting to sound better ;pHaihz.. But it's still better if u go and hear both speakers properly first ;p Edifier's sound is quite poisonous when paired with good sound cards xD This post has been edited by andrew9292: Jun 8 2009, 11:14 PM |

wah best la you. Thank god got sifu here. Listen to those gwai lo in gearslutz and harmony central really can die they too rich already.
Yup I also think so. I always felt reluctant to spend on PC speaker. Cause once buy no room for upgrade and always feel sayang to replace it. So far the reviews in zzounds sounds good for that monitor just need to go test it. I just hope 1 monitor is sufficient for listening music, recording and mixing. For movies and game I'm not really into those sound effects bass and stuff. Thanks for your advice bro. Helped a lot. *I'm out of the topic so I think I better start a new thread in audiophiles. Sorry for running outta the topic. Thanks a lot for the advice! This post has been edited by blizzzy: Jun 9 2009, 01:05 AM |
