QUOTE SVS has been an advertiser at Audioholics for some time. We like their products and continute to believe they make some of the cheapest subs out there with a good "bang for the buck" factor. Regardless of not allowing them to advertise, this has nothing to do with them as a manuafacturer.
As a company, however, their marketing methods have gotten out of control - at least on our site. If you'll notice, there is likely not a single subwoofer thread on this forum that doesn't have people talking about SVS. There is a reason for this and it has to do with the marketing methods of SVS as a company. They freely admitted to us that forum participation of their staff and SVS owners is the driving force behind their marketing strategy. This is actually kind of intelligent - until it is abused. Not a problem to me since it is a 'marketing' issue (as in itallic). As long s they produce 'bang for buck' sub (as in bold). Come to think of it, almost everywhere is the same with one company claiming their products are excellence over competitors As in a popular UK Mag, it is very bias (as most of us know). So, shall we ban the mags? No, right? Just tk it with a pinch of salt and move on Buy what you believe that gives the most value for your $$$$. I might be wrong or maybe many would disagree with me. That's why we have differences. Cheers

So we should not be bother by this as it was stated there best bang in the buck subwoofer. Thanks.

QUOTE(jchong @ Jun 21 2009, 10:52 PM) I wouldn't have expected that either. what surprised me most was i saw a forum with Dr.hsu and SVS arguing big time over whose sub design is better... just couldnt find that thread again.. it was very fun to read hehe.. i have seen diff speakers designers talking in the same forum but not arguing there... kind of like it

UK and US audio enthusiasts have different tastes .. it all has to do with the size of an average living room i.e. listening room and home design..average uk citizen lives in a link house with relatively small living room....while the opposite in the US.. American like their hi-fi loud whilst the British prefer articulate, detailed and more refined sound...

Especially in condo..otherwise the neighbors wouldnt know we got very expensive hi-fi gears with thumping bass that will test the structural integrity of the building correct?

Then, I guessed I aint Malaysian enough I watched my movie at moderate volume (Old man trying to preserve his hearing) My Yamaha ref level is at -8dB. I normally watch movies at abt -22dB (20%) to -26dB (80%). On very few occasions, it hit -18dB mark.

What could I be missing? -22dB is very very loud, I normally watch at only -30dB ~ -25dB at most. Music never went below -33dB usually it's only at -40dB. Sigh .. tonight need to do summore testing!

QUOTE(s6xs9x @ Jun 23 2009, 02:30 PM) Mine at -8dB Bro, even same avr but different room size, different speakers, and different in-room freq too. So, diff ref level. Now, hardly crank above -26dB. When you are free, come over and feel the massive difference between PB-10NSD and PC-12Plus

Sorry wanted to clarify some more. The ref level is -6dB (s6xs9x) or -8dB (htkaki) as set in your receiver volume right?
But what is the actual output from the speakers? Is it 100dB?
