haha .. have to scroll all the way to the end tho.  not much promoting on my part  blush.gif , i'm sure most of the members here would have bought the same lappie with or without this thread

Well that's not entirely true laugh.gif . At the start, i had no idea that it is actually 'practically and safe' to directly 'import' or buy electronic items outside of our country. Therefore my mind was still binded to those laptop brands available only in malaysia. But out of all, none met my expected specs except for dell xps 1730. I put the purchase on hold as i have yet to make up my mind until i bumped into this thread laugh.gif . The rest of the story u know, the performance vs price wise suit to my expectation in fact exceeded my expectation laugh.gif so i bought it straight away lo.

Conclusion to it, without your thread corad, i might end up with a dell xps 1730 with me instead and probably even regreted my buying tongue.gif . therefore the credits do go to u for introducing a good and reliable laptop brand and supplier. Kudos i must say. notworthy.gif thumbup.gif

Well, I for one never knew about this brand before until this thread was created. This thread came out only after I bought my Toshiba laptop. Regret a bit but on the plus side, warranty support is available locally (UK) and international. Unlike Sager, as mentioned by corad, if anything went wrong, you have to send it back to the US.

Then I guess I'll not mention Eurocom to upset you... biggrin.gif You have the advantage of taking it to retail store though.

Damn it N1-C. You already mentioned Eurocom and I Google it up. Wide selection of individual components for customisation. It may have a more powerful configuration at a lower price than my current laptop.

Anyway I decided to configure one of them to match almost of my laptop specification but the price was higher than the same specification of mine.

Therefore, I present to you:

Toshiba Qosmio X300-11S vs. Eurocom M570TU Montebello showdown
(both of them are 17" laptops for a fair comparison in terms of screen size)

Here is the specification break down.

Toshiba Qosmio X300-11S
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600
Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GTS, 512 MB, GDDR3
Memory: 4 GB (2 x 2GB), DDR3-1066 CL7 memory
Harddisk drive: 320GB, 5400 rpm SATA
Display: Toshiba TruBrite® WXGA+ TFT High Brightness display (1440 x 900)
Keyboard: English UK keyboard
Operating System: Pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Wireless module: Intel WiFi Link 5100
Bluetooth: Internal Bluetooth + EDR module
Speaker: built-in Harman Kardon® stereo speaker system with 2 x bass reflex speakers, 2 x tweeter speakers and 1 x subwoofer technology
Card reader: 5-in-1 Bridge Media slot (supports SD™ Cards up to 16 GB, Memory Stick® up to 256 MB, Memory Stick Pro™ up to 4 GB, MultiMedia Card™ up to 2 GB and xD-Picture Card™ up to 2 GB)
Webcam: 1.3 Megapixel
Biometric Security Device: Yes
Optical Drive: 8x DVD Super Multi (Double Layer)
Price: GBP 1099

Eurocom M570TU Montebello
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600
Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS, 512 MB, GDDR3 <- This one beats mine
Memory: 4 GB (2 x 2GB), DDR3-1066 CL5 memory <- This one beats mine although same capacity but with a lower timing. Mine was 7-7-7-12
Harddisk drive: 160GB, 5400 rpm SATA <- I beat this one in terms of capacity but not the rotation speed
Display: WXGA+ Glossy Surface display (1440 x 900)
Keyboard: English UK keyboard
Operating System: None by default
Wireless module: Intel WiFi Link 5300 <- This one beats mine but hey, in real life, it doesn't matters as the speed will never reach the theoretical speed limit. Also, I'm not fancy in using wireless technology, with some exception like mobile phone for example
Bluetooth: Internal Bluetooth + EDR module
Speaker: ???
Card reader: 7-in-1 Card Reader (MMC/RSMMC/SD/Mini-SD/MS/MS Pro/MS Duo<- This one beats mine but again, do you really utilise all the card slots available? Not for me unless you have multiple devices with different type of memory cards
Webcam: 2.0 Megapixel <- This one beats mine
Biometric Security Device: Yes
Optical Drive: 8x Multi DVD +-RW/-RAM Burner, SATA, Dual-layer, Tray-based
Price: GBP 1260

Conclusion: I still like my Toshiba laptop. The only problem that I have is to find Windows XP driver for my laptop but it is easily obtain via the net. Eurocom might have almost the same specification as mine but in this case it is a bit more expensive than mine. It might be more cheaper for other models.

corad, I hope you don't mine if I was a bit off-topic.

I can assure you, your speakers will kick most of the a$$ out there... laugh.gif One of the finest set of on-board speakers I've ever seen/hear. Not to mention the beautiful interior design.

Don't worry about the GPU, you can upgrade them if you feel like it later. I remember if you talk with Eurocom, they are willing to sell you individual part... like say... the GPU (X300 support up to 9800M GTX and please do not attempt this as I'm not sure).

@wilsonjay

Err no, Sager don't sell desktop.

The speakers? I can say very good brows.gif sweat.gif . One of the best if not the best among other laptops. Personally i have yet to audit the latest model which comes with bass reflex and subwoofer but the 1 i did audited had superb real life like music expecially on treble and clarity. But i forgot which model it is doh.gif . Conclusion Toshiba or laptops with built in harmon kardon speakers still had no rivals when it come to sound wise.

I'll personally recommend the PC151 as there's no obvious difference between the two (Except for the price).

Well if you didnt create tis thread i wouldnt know there are other sager user in malaysia rclxms.gif ... and the thread inspire me to upgrade my notebook!! which is something good~~ i hope my notebook last for 3-5 years or so.... tongue.gif i know sager/clevo from my chat friends who live in New York, they even give me link to the notebookreview forum where i indulge myself in all the knowledge of notebook technology and whatnot. I ALMOST wanted to bought the G70 with SLI 8700m GT and at the price of rm10.5k++++ when i wanted to replace my asus x51r, but boy, was i lucky to know about sager, it save me a whole lot of money~~~~~~ brows.gif

its a good thing that you are going to show others on the capability of the 9800m GTS, some claims that the performance difference with the 9800m GT are only of 10%. I read alot from notebook review forum and eventhough some of the user really wanted the 9800m GT, but the 9800m GTS are more than enough to handle latest games on the market at a very high setting. Its amazing though. And now the price for NP8860, since it have the 9800m GTS, have drop alot! it really is a bang for the buck...

@N1-C: i used to be in stamford but now im in UITM shah alam, but im in my last sem!! lolz... its amazing that my notebook beat some of the desktop around here lolzzzz thumbup.gif yes im so freaking proud of my notebook, but i dont show it off, scared of thieves dude ~~~..... lolz doh.gif

Well the thread seems pretty quiet these few days? All busy 'burning in' their 'new sager' lol. Guess I'll start off by breaking some ice around here hehe.

Anyway benchmarked with 3dmark06 trial version and managed to get 13.7k only with sli enable. Pretty low eh for 9800m gtx sli? No idea as everything's on stock and using latest nvidia notebook driver 170.20 i think.

Atm using ori vista ultimate 32bit. As for games, tried out with crysis warhead and farcry2.

Crysis warhead

Setting@gamers spec
Resolution @ 1920 with no anti aliasing.
Fps while gaming varies from 20 to 60, certain part of the game fps drop to 10 lol.

Farcry 2
Setting @ very high(ultra high and with anti-aliasing@8x, fps@around 10)
No anti aliasing
Resolution @ 1920
Fps while gaming varies from 30-60.

All games are 'lanun' version hehe. Have yet to acquired the ori version.

Conclusion even with the best laptop in the world, seems like the current games are still a level above to be playable with 'highest' setting lol.

Your score is pretty normal from the looks of it, the 9800M GTX SLI is not really good in benchmarking. A single 9800M GTX could score over 10k but dont underestimate the 9800M GTX in SLI lol.

I've seen 15k but that's with a Q9650 @ 3GHz.

Nevertheless... it destroyed every single notebook's GPU on the surface of earth (Including the recently yet to release 4870 crossfire according to Notebookcheck). You should be proud of that lol.

I'm thinking of doing some Fear 2 benchmark but I don't think its happening after I fire up my copy yesterday night, it just... maxed out lol.

I don't think bro corad can can help u on the 10% affliate programe discount. Refer to here http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/820915/+460 for clarification. But still without the 10% discount, the price vs performance is still at the top among other laptops brows.gif thumbup.gif .

Oh ya u might wana consider taking off the creative labs sound blaster x-fi 7.1. Either u take it off from your order or it will be taken off from your order automatically after the order confirmed as it is at 'back order' status = no stock. Trust me as i did the same as u before. laugh.gif

Just wondering, any other np9262 users here or in m'sia?

Recent update downloaded fear 2 demo version, max out all settings and resolutions and managed to get fps lowest at 30 and highest at 55.

After about 2 hours of playing, check and temperature was around 60 for 1 gc while the other gc was around 52.

Latest news with the release of asus w90, ati officially 'dethrone' nvidia's top end mobile gc 9800mgtx with their flagship gc ati 4870.

Sadly so but still there are good news as in the near future, sager will outlast asus w90 in term of the ability to change and upgrade it's component hardwares.

Therefore conclusion, sager is still a better buy although price vs performance wise and of course design losses out to the latest release by asus w90.
