Im impressed with the warranty given by mucro asia. Makes me think of upgrading the waranty. ^^. If i want to upgrade the warranty, which waranty should i choose? I mean either upgrading the parts waarnty or the labour warranty? Which is more worthwhile? ><
*
Honestly saying, you won't really have to upgrade your warranty as these laptops are built to last. You will know it when you hold it the first time. It's rock solid and... almost as heavy as a rock (3.5kg excluding the charger).

Check http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/ to see how many people complain about their laptops. icon_rolleyes.gif

Fastest and most "safe" method of getting your laptop to you. laugh.gif I couldn't wait so long last time and didn't want my package to be lost for being so long in transit so I took that option. icon_rolleyes.gif

+1

You can practically do a whole lot of things to the laptop and it won't void your warranty. I did one stupid thing.. Using a paperclip to put more pressure on the ATi GPU... The card "broke" and I sent it back to Mucro and now awaiting for replacement because Sager ultimately decides what happens with your warranty. What I did was, cut the can, put on the paper clip, practically burnt the circuitry of the GPU while testing to see if it was the problem when my laptop couldn't start and now a new one is coming to replace it. I think you can gauge the "void warranty" issue by looking at my case here.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Update:

1.30pm: New card arrived.  rclxm9.gif

I went too crazy with the modding. The card "broke". Not the laptop. flex.gif

I tried a few M15x..i felt the keyboard seems like poor quality..or maybe it's just me tongue.gif..though the m17x doesn't have that issue sweat.gif

Anyway, sager owner..wanna ask you regarding this question

from what i read from this thread..the HD5870 can get seriously hot and among the few reason would be the thermal paste?

was thinking to buy the IC Diamond 7 Carat from LYN forumer, BlueBean, since it's a lot more cheaper than what's being offered from sager sweat.gif but wondering how to apply it..scared i mess up biggrin.gif

The HD5870 can get a little hot but it's only because of our climate. The IC7 does help a lot in cooling the beast down. The max my new card reached is 82 degrees (2 hours of gaming on Battlefield + GTA IV) whereas my old GTX 280M maxed out at 78 with the same amount of gameplay and paste application. As for the application part, if you've done it on the desktop then it's the same as it is on these Sagers.

One thing I've noticed is that the IC7 is a hard paste to spread as it's quite thick. Instead of the spread method, I used the rice grain method applied a lot of pressure with the heatsink before I screw the whole thing together. The back cover opens up directly to the crucial parts so it shouldn't be much of a problem locating them. Just remember to remove the fans before taking off the heatsink.

If you're able to spread it so easily, then yes. If not, just use the pressure from the heatsink to let the paste spread.

WiFi... erm... not sure... I'm using the Intel 5300. Guess you'd have to check out online reviews for the WiFi stuff. XD

Good luck with your purchase if you decide to go on with it.

FYI the NP8690 does not cost 8-9k Ringgit anymore. It actually starts at 4k+ because Sager decided to put in a cheap 450M CPU. at the starting price

Sager also decided to lower their warranty prices until 31 Aug. Because they have lowered their warranty prices, we have also decided to lower the prices by 1% until 31 Aug.

For warranty, we advise you to get the Sager warranties because they are the original Sager manufacturer warranty. This is being paid to Sager and gives you more assurance as it shows your warranty duration on sagernotebook.com.
Labour and Mucro addon warranties only apply to what we are paying locally to the Malaysian Service Centre.
Warranty replacement for parts is more important because parts are very expensive and costs are determined by Sager.
