@nazish/samlee wow that bad already? I had blackmore wagyu a while ago and it was definitely not "I could not cut the meat with the knife."

I've been mostly been in Mauritius/Kenya for the last half a year so I also haven't gone to prime lately though. Due back in KL for a few days at end of March hmmmmmmmm ... think I'll give prime a miss until I hear you two verdict on your second chance visit to them tongue.gif

I dun understand what they are trying to say...How can there be melt in your mouth when Our steak was grilled to a perfect medium rare and it was nice and juicy inside with beautiful marbling. My only gripe was the occasional bite into the muscle fibers which requires some jaw exercise.? Was it Blackmore? hmm.gif

Your blog? Your previous visit, or the "second chance" visit that you're going to go to soon so that putra & i no need to go? tongue.gif

For me I blog if it's truly terrible. Just so that other people (if they happen to read) will be like okaaaaaaaaay must avoid this place at all costs. Like Spaghetti Farm in Mid Valley, I hope they've closed down by now for the atrocious garbage they call pasta.

But if it's mediocre ... ehhhhhhh. like ... what's the point of taking all the effort to take photos, edit, and then type long long? Haha.

well, i won't be going down KL so soon, so before my 2nd visit to Prime, definitely i will blog about my 1st visit 1st tongue.gif

and yea, like my visit at Prime, even though they change a plate for me, but at that time my mood also don't really have liao hence i lazy take picture of it too. And I actually can't finish it as it need way too much jaw exercise lol

btw, yea DarkNite, I just read Kampungboycitygal blog again, not really understand "My only gripe was the occasional bite into the muscle fibers which requires some jaw exercise" too when it supposed to be melt in mouth.

Prime has this Wagyu (or was it Kobe) that serves 2 for RM450 or something like that. I had it medium without any toppings or sauce and it was great. But because of the rich marbling, got jelak after awhile and both my dad and I had about 1/2 our respective portions remaining and we had to pack the balance. Still tasted fantastic the next morning when we heated it up in the oven and it became well done. In fact, I think if it was medium well, we may have been able to finish it.

But when I tried that theory with the Tony Roma's wagyu ribeye, it didn't taste as good. Medium was much tastier. nod.gif
My complaint about TR at Cineleisure is that I ordered the Wagyu New York Strip (RM129.90) but they brought the Wagyu Ribeye (RM99.90) instead. Good thing I spotted the difference and asked them which cut they gave me, otherwise they would have billed me for the NY Strip but gave me the cheaper Ribeye!

@ juschin Kobe is pretty much a 'brand' of beef, has to be bred, raised and slaughtered at a particular area in Japan. Wagyu is the breed of cattle, so any Wagyu raised in that Japan area is 'kobe,' if it's raised anywhere else it's plain Wagyu. or something like that.

[edit] any of you other peeps gone to gobo upstairs for steak? they're up to the #1 ranked restaurant in KL on tripadvisor. I went a month or so ago and the steak was unevenly seasoned - so annoying to have one bite bland and the next one super salty. overall i'd think it was OK, but nowhere near "top top" quality - and not worth the rm270 I paid (for dinner for two without wine).

would love to hear your view of course smile.gif

I don't know about u guys but ever since i've tried grass fed steak cuts, i've not gone back to grain fed beefs.. While tenderness is something to look for, for me the taste and flavor is the most important in steaks.. I love to go Jaya Grocer and ask them to custom cut a few grassfed ribeye and grill it at home.. minimum need 300 gm.. 350 gm is also good.. Just a little salt and pepper and you can really taste the flavor of the steak..

Bought grain fed once.. and my dad and bro complained that it's flat tasting (they've tried grass fed a couple times before) and the fatty tissue is too much.. Did i also mention that grassfed is much cheaper? ^.^

Had the luxury of trying Kobe and Blackmore wagyu while on business trip in singapore and to be honest.. aside from the texture.. i find the flavors to be missing... It's like i'm eating a tender piece of meat only.. It was grilled on open wood flame but yet lack the distinct flame grill flavor too..

@raist different people different preferences i guess. just like how i actually don't really like filet mignon even though it's supposed to be the #1 cut. cos it's not fatty enough ... haha!

anyways when i want cheap steak i'd all along been grilling my own. but after going to suzy's once, there really isn't any point. good beef is like what, at least rm15/100g? 200g cut = rm30 = might as well go to suzy's (unless i'm lazy to drive to ampang cos mrr2 is a bi0tch).

haven't tried out suzy's.. haha heard so much about it.. Maybe will try it someday.

I buy 350g grassfed ribeye at about 28++ per piece. NOrmally will buy 3 pcs and couple lamb chops (gf and mom love lamb) and have it vacuum pack to bring back to my hometown.
