QUOTE(kiko81 @ Jan 7 2010, 02:40 PM) hye, i got bad experience there. i went for their angus steak.i think steak hunters should try Las Varcas. located in Kelana Jaya. Near the FAM... good steak, good price rm90 if not mistaken. however, it was poor, i ask for medium , but it was cooked till too dry. reason? not the main chef is cooking it. i eat till halfway , then the main chef aka boss only masuk.....when my friend tell me i was like....duhhhhhhhh wasted rm90 on crap even my fren who always go there eat (also the one who recommend me) also complain..... so if want go there, please make sure you ask, isit the boss cooking or no, if not then you know what to do |

i got bad experience in las vacas
i order rib eye, medium (i think is angus grain feed), end up, it's overcooked, the meat taste not nice too, and seems not worth for it's minimal set up (i pay mine at RM98) reasons? almost when i finish eat, my fren saw the main chef (and owner) walk in from outside. not the main chef is cooking....duh.... pay for so much...but the quality seems even worse than those i get from victoria station This post has been edited by samlee860407: Jan 9 2011, 07:34 PM |

QUOTE(nazish @ Mar 19 2011, 06:27 PM) I may sound insane but the last two experiences have left me in a state of disbelief. whao, just went to prime last nite and its like that huhWent to Jakes Grill damansara. Everyone has praised it so far, but we ordered T Bone Steak and I found the food to be mediocre. Yes, I did not select the best meat on the menu, but spending RM 70+ per steak, I would expect its quality to match Victoria Station or Tony Roma, but nope. Second and the most shocking was Prime last night. I ordered Blackmore Wagyu ribeye... should have been the melt in the mouth right with 9 marbling score (as they advertised) ... believe me I could not cut the meat with the knife (medium done-ness) and I had to chew and chew to make sure I dont get choked on it. On one piece i actually had to give up and spit it out. I told the waiteress and she told me that she can cook it a bit more. But hey I was eating medium done-ness not rare? The service was excellent. The starter breads (especially the one topped with cheese) were out of the world good. The soups (mushroom and lobster bisque) were ok, crab cakes were ok too, but the steak was totally unacceptable. I am going to visit Prime one more time in future because I cant just figure out how people call it the best steak in KL? Does some one share my experience? Please tell me what went wrong? PS: I am so so happy to find this blog that talks exactly what I said: http://diaryofahedonist.blogspot.com/2011/...n-hotel-kl.html Prime has gone down the drain I think, wrong time for me to buy the Starwood membership i am going there tonite, and i seriously hope its not like that Added on March 20, 2011, 10:08 pmPutra and all others. I just back from Prime. And I am really really disappointed with it Okay, the bread is great, the lobster bisque is awesome, and the foie gras is good too so here come the steaks my gf opt for the Master Kobe Oyster Blade Steak (8oz 220gm) @ RM130 medium while I opt for their cheapest blackmore promotion @ RM98, what blackmore wagyu blah one, also medium and it's amazingly disappointing! When the manager ask me how is my meat, i straight complain its bad, as it's too chewy, and some part i can't even cut with my knife, and when i bite, i have to just swallow it! The manager go on and ask my choice of meat, and tell me the one i choose is 2nd grade, hence it won't melt in mouth but when i show him the piece of meat i can't cut, and tell him that my meat is medium done, he straight away say he will change my meat for me, to a premium one. After like 15 mins, my new cut of meat is here. it was changed to medium rare blackmore wagyu chuck flap tail @ RM180 however, to be honest, it's still disappointing. It doesnt melt in my mouth, and i find that it's shud be rare rather than medium rare, as the middle part of the meat seems to be totally uncook. Yes, the service is good, and i doesn't even need to pay for the premium cut to taste it, but i still find that it does not help anything since i feel that it doesn't taste as good. the blackmore wagyu chuck flap tail doesn't seems to worth to me, but with this kind of service, yes i gona give them another try in the near future, but until someone tell me quality of food in Prime is back into business isit really becoz i don't know how premium steak shud taste like or what? Prime makes me really wanted to try Qba for tomorrow , since i still got the RM50 voucher with me.... PS: the starwood card looks marvellous now putra, i need ur advice abit This post has been edited by samlee860407: Mar 20 2011, 10:08 PM |

QUOTE(Putraskyline @ Mar 21 2011, 08:46 AM) @Samlee ahh i see. no wonder i get medium rare.Blackmore wagyu should be melt in mouth if they cook it well and medium rare or rare is a way to go. Allow 5 minutes after they served to you, as quality of this meat are superior, it shouldn't have any bleeding. I tried Blackmore on their 1st promotion and I don't have any doubt of it. For this round of promotion where they bring Blackmore again, I don't have time yet to revisit. The best so far I have taste at prime was Centre Fillet Mignon Master Kobe. As the cut very important, try to take finest cut as possible but the cut i get seems totally different from what you describe 1) it does not melt in my mouth, as i need to chew, chew and chew it 2) no bleeding? but when i cut blood are coming out eh when u mentioned allow 5 mins after they serve me, means i wait after 5 mins only eat ar? ahh...finest cut eh...hm... but seriously, i am really disappointed lo, i wish to try once more (either prime again or Qba) before i back to kedah |

QUOTE(deodorant @ Mar 22 2011, 07:50 PM) Your blog? Your previous visit, or the "second chance" visit that you're going to go to soon so that putra & i no need to go? well, i won't be going down KL so soon, so before my 2nd visit to Prime, definitely i will blog about my 1st visit 1st For me I blog if it's truly terrible. Just so that other people (if they happen to read) will be like okaaaaaaaaay must avoid this place at all costs. Like Spaghetti Farm in Mid Valley, I hope they've closed down by now for the atrocious garbage they call pasta. But if it's mediocre ... ehhhhhhh. like ... what's the point of taking all the effort to take photos, edit, and then type long long? Haha. and yea, like my visit at Prime, even though they change a plate for me, but at that time my mood also don't really have liao hence i lazy take picture of it too. And I actually can't finish it as it need way too much jaw exercise lol btw, yea DarkNite, I just read Kampungboycitygal blog again, not really understand "My only gripe was the occasional bite into the muscle fibers which requires some jaw exercise" too when it supposed to be melt in mouth. Added on March 23, 2011, 8:37 amand reading the comments, it seems hm...it seems more and more people is complaining eh? This post has been edited by samlee860407: Mar 23 2011, 08:37 AM |

QUOTE(Putraskyline @ Mar 25 2011, 08:52 AM) @Samlee i forget the name liao, at the menu it wrote what crystal one or circle one or something , but at the receipt it says ribeye pulakWhat wagyu huh, so cheap? If I'm not mistaken, from the 1st promotion on Blackmore, the cheapest available about RM300++ for 220gram. Btw, your camera shot was superb i din't manage to take the photo of the blackmore wagyu chuck flap tail though btw, i see the menu, alot of the blackmore wagyu also cost less than rm300 eh? the cube roll is expansive la... thanks btw |

QUOTE(nazish @ Mar 27 2011, 10:49 PM) Hey guys went to Prime today again. This time ordered Simply the Best, comes in a plate with three pieces of steak (Australian Black Angus, 200 days grain fed, filet mignon; Australian Black Angus, pasture fed, ribeye; and wagyu sirloin) and hubby ordered Australian Black Angus - 200 days grain fed centre cut filet mignon. whao nice. btw, did they know that you complaint them before when you are therE?Both were superb. The best meat was Australian Black Angus, pasture fed filet mignon (soft and very meaty), the second best was Australian Black Angus - 200 days grain fed centre cut filet mignon. So we concluded that we are "grass-fed" fans because we like our meat to taste like meat (bloody that is) and the texture was superb. With the superior service of Prime (the best I have ever experienced before) I would now rate Prime to be the best steak in KL |
