I went to Daily Grind at Bangsar Village to try their steak out, but ended up eating their lamborghini burger instead. God they are good with burgers! I have striked out all other burger outlets for this one and their prices are quite reasonable as well RM 28 - 35 for quite a lot of choices.
I will definitely try their steak next time, as I have seen their meat quality is very good.
By the way, I tried calling Castell too, but no one picked up the phone.

Indeed, Daily Grind have the best burger in KL but since my last visit to their new outlet, quality dropping.

Went out to eat some more steaks, so here are the verdicts

No 1. Alexis (i frequent Garden's branch) and their steaks are soft and yummy (tried ther Wagyu, nothing special)
No 2. Tony Roma's Wagyu (their normal steaks are tough, but their Wagyus are absolutely worth)
No 3. Mardo's (quite big portions, i was absolutely full after i finished eating)
No 4. Daily Grind - Ribeye Steak (good quality meat, please ask them to keep the sauce separate as it spoils the meat taste)
No 5. Monte's Bangsar (salt-less, tasteless, but tender steak)

Just came back after eating the so far best steak I have eaten in KL at Gaucho Grill - Chulan Square, Bukit Bintang. Hubby ordered T bone (400g) for RM 80 and I ordered Tenderloin (250g) for RM 95. Both were out of the world steaks... very tasteful and well marinated. The meat was so clean and good quality. The way it was presented resembled Maredo's but the quality was totally different... can still feel the taste in my mouth yum!

So now the verdict has changed:

No. 1. Gaucho Grill (try their T Bone or Tenderloin, ask them to bring the sauce separate)
No 2. Alexis (i frequent Garden's branch) and their steaks are soft and yummy (tried ther Wagyu, nothing special)
No 3. Tony Roma's Wagyu (their normal steaks are tough, but their Wagyus are absolutely worth, RM 99)
No 4. Maredo's (quite big portions, i was absolutely full after i finished eating)
No 5. Daily Grind - Ribeye Steak (good quality meat, please ask them to keep the sauce separate as it spoils the meat taste)
No 6. Monte's Bangsar (salt-less, tasteless, but tender steak)

Went to castell after writing above so though to just change the post. Hubby ordered Beef Ribs and I ordered Ribeye... well the Ribs were hopelessly tough, even though we sent it back for cooking twice. The Ribeye was ok, comparable to Daily Grind, lets say a little better. But definitely not a place i would frequent. So uptil now the verdict is:

No.
No 5: Castell's Ribeye Steak (the beef ribs sucked big time, so no verdict for that).
No 6. Daily Grind - Ribeye Steak (good quality meat, please ask them to keep the sauce separate as it spoils the meat taste)
No 7. Monte's Bangsar (salt-less, tasteless, but tender steak)

Yes, Prime located at Le Meridien, KL Sentral. Normally Prime always full house on weekday but not on weekend. But to avoid disappointment, I advise to book. Book online to get instant confirmation.

Just went to Meatworks to try out their steaks since I heard some good reviews about it.

And I was Disappointed!

I ordered a ribeye medium rare, 3pcs rib and a creamy mash potato.

First of all the ribeye meat quality is lousy. The meat is tough although it's medium rare and there is a lot of veins. It's pretty tasteless and less character at all.

The ribs was veiny as well and the meat is tough. I had better at Tony Roma's.

And the mashed was ordinary. Tasted like those powder mix mashed potato.

The price was not cheap and the service was everywhere since it's full house.

Conclusion is don't bother going there for their steaks.

My brother who lives in the UK loves the UK version of Gaucho Grill (I'm not sure if it's related to the KL one, but my bet is yes). Gotta try it when I get back to kay-el. I've been in Africa for 2-odd months on business and the lack of good steak is killing me.

Interestingly though, I haven't been to ANY of the steakhouses on your list. Normally when I have a steak hankering I just go to Prime, haven't bothered with experimenting, lol.

If you guys want good (great even) steaks at reasonable price without the fuss of dressing up I would highly recommend Las Vacas located at SS5 and Mont Kiara.

They are a butcher first but also cook up some wonderful grub. You go in, select your cut of meat and they cook it up for you. No sauces or marination. Just clean steaks.

http://lasvacasmeat.blogspot.com/

Google them and you can read alot of reviews on them. They have many varieties of beef to chose from but they also depend on availability due to being a butcher.

Cheers.
