Hmm Laman Grill looks interesting, but anways went to Las Vacas - Mont Kiara today. Ordered 400g Angus Ribeye. Asked for medium well, but it came half well done, half medium well... What was not acceptable to me was that the marinate was very superficial (probably because they are butchers) and hence as a steak, I felt it was a bit taste less.
I tried their beef wraps (slices of beef wrapped around sticks of vegetable and cheese) and those were awesome (RM 18 per plate) totally worth it. If I ever go back, it would be to eat those beef wraps. I tried Bruschetta too, they were worth the money but kindda ok in taste (RM 10 per plate). One more thing, I kinda dont like places that refuse to serve normal water... not that I cant afford, its just a bit annoying!

So as far as steaks are concerned, here I go updating my list:
No 1. Gaucho Grill (try their T Bone or Tenderloin, ask them to bring the sauce separate)
No 2. Alexis (i frequent Garden's branch) and their steaks are soft and yummy (tried ther Wagyu, nothing special)
No 3. Tony Roma's Wagyu (their normal steaks are tough, but their Wagyus are absolutely worth, RM 99)
No 4. Maredo's (quite big portions, i was absolutely full after i finished eating)
No 5. Las Vacas (Angus Ribeye RM 28 per 100g, down side is that meat is not marinated hence very superficial taste)
No 6: Castell's Ribeye Steak (the beef ribs sucked big time, so no verdict for that).
No 7. Daily Grind - Ribeye Steak (good quality meat, please ask them to keep the sauce separate as it spoils the meat taste)
No 8. Monte's Bangsar (salt-less, tasteless, but tender steak)
*
Las Vacas should be very good to me since I don't like my steak marinated, just salt and pepper but quality of the meat must be superb in order to obtain very well flavor. Rm28/100gram quite cheap, I should try this weekend.

i got bad experience in las vacas

i order rib eye, medium (i think is angus grain feed), end up, it's overcooked, the meat taste not nice too, and seems not worth for it's minimal set up (i pay mine at RM98)

reasons? almost when i finish eat, my fren saw the main chef (and owner) walk in from outside. not the main chef is cooking....duh....

pay for so much...but the quality seems even worse than those i get from victoria station

don't bother with steak in genting. the only "good" restaurant up there is the olive ... supposed to be quite award-winning but I've never tried. everything else caters for gamblers and their families.

just went there 2 weeks ago.

Definitely good steak eventhough I don't eat steak. It comes with hotplate. Lots of mat salleh there. They are very famous among expats. One of the cheapest premium quality steak house.

You can get same quality in other places but you have to pay at like double the price.

Totally recommended but you need to wait for table during peak hour.

I got so frustrated when I went to Suzi corner and could not find the place and eventually ended up eating Indian food in KL!
Even google maps has two markings... can someone please give me clear directions if you know the place...
If I am on road where Flamingo is on my left and if I go straight on the bridge Ampang Point Shopping Mall is on my left... I went in Jalan Ampang Ulu and ended up in a condo... then the guard asked me to go right... went there, came out on MRR2, took a left and ended up on KL Highway!

Best steak that I tried so far in KL:

Prime @ Le Meridien, KL Sentral
Mandarin Grill @ Mandarin Oriental, KLCC
Coliseum

The first two, you get what you pay. I became a Starwood member just to eat at Prime (you get 50% discount when dining two)
Coliseum is a good value for money and a bit of KL history. Still haven't tried Suzi's corner. Don't bother with Maredo, they have too many typos on their Argentinian dish names and to me that's already a bad sign.

I am actually from Argentina so I grew up eating steak biggrin.gif

So it is on Flamingo side? If I turn left from Jalan Ampang towards MRR2, would Suzi by on main road?

I went to Suzie Corner tonight and I must say that I AM BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!!!!! It is for the first time that after eating steak at a place i am not looking forward to any more trials or search for better. It is 300% value for money. I ordered Tenderloin and so did my hubby and we ended up ordering one more tenderloin, coz couldnt get enough of it.
The only only down side was the sauce and only because it had loads of white pepper that I dont like. So next time we are going to take our bottle of mustard along hehe. So a word of caution for all people who try for first time, ask them to bring the sauce separate. But yet again the meat was super quality, awesome, full of flavours, yummy!
I AM A SUZIE FAN! One note: Steak hut is going to be closed from 1 Feb till 10 Feb, so if you are craving, better hurry up and thanks loads for the maps and guidance to find the gem. thumbup.gif
Only because of sauce and ambience i am putting suzie no. 2

No 1. Gaucho Grill (try their T Bone or Tenderloin, ask them to bring the sauce separate)
No 2. Suzie Corner (tenderloin at RM 32, a total value for money, ask them to bring sauce separate)
No 3. Alexis (i frequent Garden's branch) and their steaks are soft and yummy and side items superb (tried ther Wagyu, nothing special)
No 4. Tony Roma's Wagyu (their normal steaks are tough, but their Wagyus are absolutely worth, RM 99)
No 5. Maredo's (quite big portions, i was absolutely full after i finished eating, but poor customer service)
No 6. Las Vacas (Angus Ribeye RM 28 per 100g, down side is that meat is not marinated hence very superficial taste)
No 7. Castell's Ribeye Steak (the beef ribs sucked big time, so no verdict for that)

No 9. Monte's Bangsar (salt-less, tasteless, but tender steak)

First steak was medium-well but the quality of meat was so tender that we dared to order the second one medium. So like Putraskyline said I have no experience of medium rare either.

If you make a formula for "value for money" it is definitely No 1 on my list, because I want good food wherever I can get. But ofcourse it is not the place to go on events or in dating mood hahaha coz a real mamak stall.

Lets say, try it and even if you dont rate it the best, you wont complain either smile.gif beware of the hot plate they serve it on hubby burnt his arm a lil but the plate is necessary to keep the juices inside, coz when I cut the second one in half and put in my plate, all the juices ran out of my steak but still it was edible lovely yummy....

Going there again tomorrow ... though I live in Puchong ... imagine my love hahahaha

There is a busy road so I would never ever park and cross the road. Ampang Point is on one side of MRR2, this is on the Flamingo side.

Lets say if you are coming from Bukit Jalil side, then exit MRR2 at Jalan Ampang, cross Jalan Ampang on your left and get slow as like 10 km / hr and turn left in the first visible street (Lorong Ampang Ulu)
OR
if you are coming from Gleaneagles side (i.e. you are on Jalan Ampang) towards MRR2, then take the last lane going left (Jalan Ampang Ulu), before hitting left on main road to join MRR2. Once in that lane, turn right into the lane (Lorong Ampang Ulu).
If you miss the last lane, then once you are on the main road, turn slowest (10 km/hr hehehe) and look for Lorong Ampang Ulu on your left.

there was quite a lot of parking space yesterday at around 7:30 so I guess not so bad on week days. you can also check Wiki map link given to me earlier in the same forum.
