Diamond 9.1 is the best speaker as compared to other speakers I ever owned.
It performs very well with all music, classic, rock, black metal.
(Unlike Mission incapable to drive metal music without harsh)

Diamond 9.1 is good enough to test whether one amp or AVR is good or not.
Years ago I paired this speaker with Denon AVR-1909 & 1905, it really produce lifelike sound quality.

But finishing is the big problem. Speaker cabinet start to tear and broke due to age.
I want to rebuild speaker cabinet myself and maintain the original parts.
Many cash spent already on woodwork, but still don't get to produce a nice one.
Buying new speakers seems not promising same quality as Diamond 9.

I only have 2 options, whether to rebuild speaker cabinet for existing diamond 9.1,
or buy more expensive speakers like B&W  cry.gif

If anything, sonic differences between different speaker types is actually one of the easiest thing to hear for. The better advice would be to choose based your own listening taste and preference, regardless of price.
But if the more "expensive" speakers sound more enjoyable or suitable to your own listening taste and the wallet is feeling generous, go for it then.

But whatever it may be, please don't fall into the "sour grapes" trap.  There are some who will hentam the more expensive things saying that it's a con job or whatever, but actually they are just jealous of other people's affordability and have some inferiority complex of their own. Not referring to anyone in the Wharfedale thread here of course (but in some other threads  whistling.gif ).

LOL tongue.gif tongue.gif

I'd like to counter tat :

Of cos there are those tat are 'sour grapes' n just becos cannot afford would like to bring it down..

N there is de other 'SUPERIOR-ITY' complex which is I can afford tis-so-n-so-super-brand so I must be better n hv a better sounding system than yours -
Of cos if you like it more than de other 'cheaper' set , then fine and good but if its just for bragging rites, than .. I guess you hv more money than -----

In de end, to each his own , affordable or expensive, in de end, you have to live wif it..

Hi Wharfedale owners, I'm planning to get a pair of floorstanders for 90% music and 10% movie use. I'm wondering should I get the Diamond 10.5 or the 9.5. Please give some advice. TQ

9.5 is the very old version that no longer available. Even 10 series been for many years.

I used to own 10.2 as it was among the most affordable speakers.

however, later I realised Diamond series was never meant for music.

Anyway, the Diamond bass is good for movies without sub. Example: 10.7

Howabout the Jade series? I see they are quite beefy looking and not easy to drive? Plan to buy the Jade 3 though, sealed bass design hmm.gif

I had also tried the more expensive Jade, but failed to see any advantages from its price tag. IMO, one of the worst value for $$$.

However, Wharfedale Opus2-3 series is another ball game. Its impressive super wide range of sound really beat all speakers in its price range. thumbup.gif

hmm, different setup give different sound perhaps? I thought the Jade should be something at the top, lots of positive reviews, it is balance. In exchange it could what you feel it as boring? While the OPUS could be a speakers that lean towards a bit exciting sound, may suit well for certain categories of music I assume? What's not good in Jade by the way? Which model you heard?

I'm currently using wharfdale 10.1 as front speakers, wharfdale CS as centre and 4 KEF T105 as side and rear. sub is also KEF.
Driven by Marantz.
I am thinking of changing the 10.1 to 10.7 or 159.
Desk told me the 10.7 sounds better than the 159.
What is you opinion ? I don't want to believe too much the salesman talk.
Also is there a huge difference to my system by changing the front speakers this way tomwarrant spending money on speakers again ?

As a matter of fact changing the center to diamond as well make more sense. Is always advisable to have front and center the same for same sound signature. Any for HT center speaker is the most important than front than surround

Thanks.
Just bought from Desa.
Stronger bass than 10.1.

Problem is now I have way too many speakers.
Will have to decide whether to use the 10.1 as front surround or the T105.
Easier to use T105 as it is easier to sell the 10.1.
Not possible to just sell 3 T105 speakers I think.
I need the other 2 T105 for rear surround and the subwoofer which came with it.
