Each rubber surround has different stiffness and elastic factor from different manufacturer.

You can't just replace. Maybe you can send inquiry to W.

yups, i'm not the only one.. try googling "wharfedale 9.1 surround rubber torn".. a lot of ppls have the same problem.. this speaker is located just beside my room windows.. maybe because of heat of the sun and the high room temperature.. the other one is ok because it's far away from windows.. just my 2 cents..

Try Pasar Road. Some shops there sell the surrounds in various sizes / diameters.

Another home DIY fix would be to apply some Selleys flex-joint seal or whacchamacallit (i forget the exact name) but it's a rubber based flexible sealant compound that is flexible after curing.

So has the Garde patent been productised into a tangible item yet or is it still just in the schematic state ?

Anybody has experience with Wharfedale Jade 3? I plan to get it year end or next new year

I have experience the same problem. I purchased 6 pairs Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 since 2006 until 2010. The last unit I bought in 2010 is a bit different in colour and has no magnetic shield around the driver. This last unit got tear like yours.

I bought new rubber ring from ebay, and cut the whole things to replace with new one. Here is the link: -->Ebay (Rubber ring fits WD9.1)

Use the glue (white colour) sold at stationery shop.

When you get the new ring, and want to cut the old ring, do not attempt to tear off the old ring from kevlar cone. It will damage the cone. It wont work. Just cut the suspension area, leaving the remaining ring intact with kevlar. Then just glue the new ring on top of the remaining one. (What language )

Aren't you add additional mass on the kevlar cone if you did not remove of the old rubber?

Jade series is very expensive, like impossible for me to get one., but I wish to have it


Wharfedale DX-1 HCP RM4,800?

I want to ask you guys about the price for Wharfedale DX-1 HCP speaker package.

Last time on Monday 18.05.2015 I went to Desa HT @ Lowyat to buy this speaker.
I was very sure that the price should be around RM2,400 - RM2,800

I was very sure because when I visited the same shop last 3 years, the seller offered me RM2,500 (dua ribu setengah)

Last year (2014) a friend of mine also told me that he find the speaker sold for RM2,500 at Desa HT.

I checked with WhatHifi, just checking,

Denon AVR-1910 Tested at £450 was sold for RM2,800 in Malaysia.
Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 Tested at £150 sold for RM950 in Malaysia.

Wharfedale DX-1 HCP Tested at £400 SHOULD BE sold for RM2,488.88 in Malaysia.

I am very surprised when I actually want to buy this speaker last Monday, Desa HT selling it for RM4,800?!!!

I am very disappointed, but never argue with the seller. But I did tell him that I thought it was RM2,500..

I did remove the old rubber using knife, but have to leave the internal part which already intact with kevlar cone.
Removing the old rubber from kevlar cone is impossible without damage, because kevlar cone is very flexible & fragile.
I think is safer to leave the remaining internal ring part and add the new ring just onto it.

There will be double layer of internal ring around the kevlar cone.

Why argue.. its a buyer seller conundrum - its his product and your money ..

Our local sellers knw tat there is no economies of scale here in Mal .. hence the higher B & M prices .. I guess u can get it online elsewhere and usually its cheaper even after shipping charges are included - Cons are u hv to wait and no local warranty and wait for this .. if u r unlucky a lot of hassle in acquiring ur new purchase - sometimes u'll need all sorts of stupid certs tat our local authorities ask for.. making u run around like a fool..

I've got Wharfedale distributor contact, you can PM me if you interested. I'm plan to buy Jade 3 because there is some less than perfect B-stock at bargain price, well why not higher price does not guarantee quality either, if the service is good, I'm not hesitate to buy provided the sound is good, I'll see whether can get a week audition at home, also the Jade series another concern is speakers stand

You can just use a dryer to blow on the rubber contact and it will detach from the cone by using a plastics plier, unless they are using special glue.

Maybe it works (i don't have hair dryer)

Need to work very carefully though because kevlar is an embroidered fabric material, similar to cloth material.
I am afraid that the embroidered kevlar can possibly break off hope not
