Is there a reason why SSDs are not made in 3.5" sizes to fit in more NAND chips?

Yes, like Loki pointed out, the Flash memory are expensive. Intel's 160 GB already costs well above 1.5K. Are you willing to pay for an SSD that actually needs the 3.5" form factor?

If your issue is about fitting it in a desktop, just place it around somewhere or buy a 3.5" case adaptor. SSDs are very resistant to knocks as there are no moving parts.

Isit faulty ?

I would believe so. You should back up your data first. Then try a "chkdsk /f". That shell command line will attempt to locate any bad sectors. If it starts listing an unending list of bad sectors, well, you know it's bad.

Well….ummm, that’s not that helpful now is it? SSDs are just so much better that they really are in a league of their own and have a tendency to compress ALL hard drive results into a smudge at the bottom of the chart.

Emphasis mine.

You'll need to identify the product numbers. The 1TB version is labeled HD103SJ while its 500GB counterpart is HD502HJ.

By the way, I recall reading a someone say that C-Zone is selling both models in question. You should also be able to locate them in LYN Garage Sales section.

I couldn't find the 1TB model there too. A quick peek at Newegg solved that problem.
