QUOTE(Darkmage12 @ Jun 28 2009, 01:17 PM) bro where can you get at that kind of price? OEM version? Owh snap. Typo... RM 355 very sory . ---> ANyway, juzz to confirm. Got rumors from some "expert" telling that WD green have this so called "chip" installed that will make the HDD shut down itselft when idle even if you've set the power management to always turn on your HDD from your window. This is to fulfill their "power saving attribute" . Is this true eh?

Hello Hardisk Gurus, Two weeks ago, my friend updates his Vista. After one hour, suddenly the PC turn off itself. Once turn ON, CHKDSK runs and listing few segments. (don't know how to describe) Well, me PC noob. But, I suspected that the hardisk is corrupted. (my 2cent)
As we try to run the hardisk on other PC, same thing happen. Even put the hardisk to slave.
I have no idea on how to retrieve the data back. Can anyone of u guys here can help him to retrieve back all his data?
The hardisk spec as below:
ST3500320AS Firmware: SD15 Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB SATA
Thanks in advance. Looking forward for solutions.

It could be the firmware problem of the 7200.11 HDD. Have you made sure that you have updated the firmware? Checkout seagate official website.

Hei, I'm quite outdated in external HDD. As you can see from my siggy, I've bought 2.5" HDD all these years due to portability issue. Now as I've less travel, I need a large externall HDD to use along with my lappie. Can Anyone tell me: i) Is Seagate famous firmwire problem causing HDD failure exist in External 3.5" HDD? Should I get WD instead? ii) I'm considering 1.5 TB 3.5" Seagate External HDD since it is quite cheap (saw RM 485). Is Seagate FreeAgent Xtreme and Home got any difference? If you suggesting WD, I cant see any WD 1.5" External HDD by the moment. Thanks.

I remember ALL IT was selling an odd-capacity WD hard disk early this year with good RM:Gigabyte ratio.

Im currently waiting for the seagate 1tb 7200.12... too bad most local retailers wont take the risk to bring them in since the 7200.11 edition is very problematic.
