Update your MPC-HC as well, and dont expect Dxva works with all HD video, dxva is very picky, if the video you are playing is not supported by Dxva it will fall back to CPU/ aka software decoding mode, which is super slow.

just asking, why want to use MPC-HC if you know other player does not have playback problem? doh.gif

actually all are lastest ver.

i dun lk too many players in my system tongue.gif

i'm facing some lagginess when playing 1080p with MPC-HC and also real media video, but not with WMP.

i only can feel the lag when using DXVA on 1080p video. as for real media i'm not so sure. icon_question.gif

For DXVA, I recommend at least a 512MB card minimum
256MB can't cut it for total smooth DXVA playback

About your RMVB lag, the only thing I can blame is either the decoder or the encoded video itself. What was the CPU usage when viewing the RMVB file?

Too bad i sold my 2600xt, so i cant verify for this, 256mb is more than enough imho, even an IGP like 4200 series also capable of bluray playback leh sweat.gif

256MB will work, but won't have total smooth experience, thats why I recommended at least a 512MB card
But anyway, GPU with 1GB cards are cheap nowadays, just upgrade and kill all the headaches biggrin.gif

Tried a friend's old AGP of the HD2600Pro with 512MB RAM, running smooth with DXVA on Windows XP last time

quite low, less than 5% i think. I think it is just the settings problem.
when playing DXVA, gpu memory usage only around 50%. so i dun thk so its gpu's prob.
i only notice lagginess in rmvb when using mpc, not with wmp. strange rite? sweat.gif

OK, for your RMVB you are using ffdshow's RMVB decoder?
If yes, disable it and download Real Alternative and it will solve your problems

GPU at 50% should work then, that should be okay. Maybe you do more testing to confirm because gone are the days of 256MB VRAM, now minimum also 512MB biggrin.gif

i thk i've found out the prob. the vram is not enuf although gpu load is just around 20% when i was plaing 1080p sweat.gif
n i just notice i forgot to install real alternative tongue.gif so real media file prob solved

If im correct, the GPU on your laptop is X3100? GMA X3100 only support full MPEG2 Dxva, partial VC-1/WMV and no hardware acceleration for h264/AVC.
Only GL40 chipset support them all with full hardware acceleration.

IF your Laptop is dual core cpu with at least 1.8GHz, should be able to playback 1080p rip smoothly but CPU usage will be skyhigh.

Hi Lyn members,

Im using laptop with normal intel HD graphic card to play movie with my tv. I have tried splash player the only player that can decode DTS HD master audio. My prob with this player I cant enable the spdif passtru, is there any alternative I can do this.

Do you have any recomendation for other player that run smoothly for MKV file or perhaps upscale a bit? Do MKV media file contain HD audio?

You could try FFdshow, + mpc-hc

If you wants you MKV run smoothly, use Mpc-hc and enable the interal h264 dxva decoder. For higher quality upscaling you should use EVR custom presenter or Madvr.
MKV support many formats, thats including True HD and DTS HD.

thank you very much for your reply 1024Kbps... the prob is using mpc hc i could not get the HD audio working... I can get normal DD or DTS but not DTS HD or Dolby TruHD...

In addition I can really tell a diff using splash and mpc hc.. splash is more smooth but i could not get normal dd or dts audio in here. and im not sure if mpc hc could plyt m2ts file because there is no audio when i try to play them.

in order to get DD or DTS in mpc hc i hv to ticked the AC3/SPDIF encode mode.. but when listening to normal laptop speaker the sound is completely broken and I hv to change it back.

Hmm i thought ffdshow support them, probably need separate directshow decoder or something, or may be need to configure the HD audio decoder manually.

Haali media splitter support m2ts, and try to enable all audio decoder support on ffdshow see if it could work.
splash player free version dont support spdif passtru, mpc-hc and ffdshow probably is your only options.

Sound card on your pc only support PCM thats why the sound is completely broken. there may be no way to do this automatically ...
Btw im not pro on this area because never tried the spdif/hdmi stuff before sweat.gif

but i dont know how to integrate gabest in mpc hc. anyway tks for your reply 1024kbps, appreciate it.

Hello people.

I have problems watching HD movies on my pc.
720p lag. 1080p VERY lag, especially when scrolling thru the time. Voice sync will run.

I am using Klite megapack(latest ver). MPC. Running on win7 64bit.
Rig specs:

1.86ghz core2duo
2gb DDR2 667 ram
Nvidia 8600GT OC edition

Previously i was on winXP, and i uses CoreAVC with CCCP which runs fine. But as time goes on, CoreAVC cannot decode newer movies properly. I will experience the color artifacts and mosaics effect.
So when i changed to win7, i uses MPC with KLITE. I noticed the lags starts then. I tried changing to CoreAVC too, but it still suffers from lag.
Watching a 1080p (10gb++ size movie), i noticed the CPU usage is at 70% and above. In between movie, voice sync runs out, lags, and even sound being cut off.

Any ideas?Does adding in another 2 x 2gb DDR667 gonna help?I cant change GFX card since my PSU only 300 watts WITHOUT the molex sockets.

Afaik, the MPC was set to run on GPU processing.

if CPU usage is 70%, MPC is not using GPU decoding

a low powered GPU such as ati HD6570 or nvidia gt430 can run without external power source

you can read more about hardware decoding here: http://imouto.my/watching-h264-videos-using-dxva/

After setting, then i played the same video. Now in the MPC, the bottom there is written "Playing [DXVA]". I assume i did the right way.
Then in properties, i saw this message:

DXVA Mode : H.264 bitstream decoder. no FGT
Video card : Nvidia Geforce 8600gt

Meaning?

Now time seeking is faster, CPU load is lower between 18-30%. But i still see the jerkiness in 1080p.
Could it be i am downloading (150kbps) files to the same hdd where the movie is playing?
I tried another one in another hdd with the download running, same.
Stopping the download only improves by a little...

Yup its currently decoding in DXVA mode, what is your CPU? 18/30% is still high for DXVA imho.
And downloading file and playback of video on the same HDD does not effect performance much unless your HDD is the old one or slowest type.
Or may be the video is interlaced?

OR if the video your are playing is original rip from bluray(average 35 megabit per second for video).
