i saw mpc hc website stated that there's bug with ATi users might face random green frames appearing during playback, and i'm facing that, is there other solution to this other than reverting to driver 8.5?

isnt the new cat is 8.65?
If you cpu is 3 GHz or better, try playback using latest version of ffdshow,
less trouble than Dxva, lag-free if configured correctly,
downside is high cpu usage.

your pc spec has a slim chance to play 1080p video smoothly, try CoreAVC?
here is how to "tweak" the vlc:
http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ#H.264....ack_is_too_slow

mplayer can disable more for better performance, but quality very bad, eg lotsa frame skipping + ugly blocking tongue.gif

since you are using mpc hc,
launch mpc hc, press "O", > Internal Filters > Transform filter, scrolldown and you will see 2 h264 decoder,
untick H264/AVC (Dxva) and select the FFmpeg one.

The leave output section to default, unless you know what are you doing nod.gif
If you want to know which codec are being used during playback, just right click on mpc> Filters.

Thanks alot! CoreAVC did the job very well. its at least 80% better than before now. At least the video is watchable and the lagginess/blocks are much less.
I don't expect to watch 1080p videos on this pc, i'm already very happy if 720p vids play well.
Thanks again =D

video not downloaded completely, usually if u use torrent and u finished(remove additional extension) it before it complete.
u may resume download(need hashcheck first) or if the torrent has gone [u cant download it anymore], and the file is divx u can repair it using DivFix.

black band on the top and bottom? is it the movie aspect ratio is 16:9?
unless you change you monitor to 16:9 or 16:10 type, less black band tongue.gif
the only 2 ways to remove the 2 black band is crop off the left and right of the video using ffdshow doh.gif
or disable "keep aspect ratio" on mpc, you movie will be streched to fullscreen, both method isnt good actually doh.gif

PC spec? low end GPU might suffering stuttering video or audio playback, or slow CPU,
if your OS is vista or w7, chance are the video player's video renderer use too much CPU resource and causing the audio to stuttering.

MPEG2/DVD partial DXVA tongue.gif
[attachmentid=1666308]

Btw, its nothing special and not a new thing, if your OS is vista and w7,
the default decoder for MPEG1/2 on vista already support MPEG1/2 Dxva, it just no one know about it lol,
and, the default decoder on Windows 7 support MPEG1/2/H264 Dxva too,
the MPC Dxva decoder its just a open source version, and the adavantage of this decoder is, it's work with Windows XP.

Added on July 10, 2010, 11:56 pmA little update here:
Well i have tried to download the out-of-spec h264 video from this site:
http://imouto.my/watching-h264-videos-using-dxva/
i have only got 2, other links to download the video doesn't seem to work now doh.gif
i tried to post a comment on that blog but the site said im spammer LOL

Ati user finally able to playback those out-of-spec video, tested 2 clips from site above plus with my own h264 test video encoded with insane settings (16 reference frame and 16 b-frames).
no more error output or skipping scene, the only requirement is, its only work with EVR Custom Presenter or EVR,
other video renderer does not work at all,
So far i have only tested on Windows 7, and Catalyst 10.6,
Windows XP does have EVR renderer provided if you have installed .NET framework 3.5 or may be higher version, but video crashed mpc for me tongue.gif
