What is the most common used GPS format in Malaysian food blogs ?
My garmin 60 csx cannot recognize the common one's.

I want to set to this format, which most food blogs use:
N 3 07.546 E 101 37.381
N 3 05.446 E 101 41.396

What format is above? Any idea?

Hi guys/gals,

I plan to get the car Garmin GPS. Will need to use it around the Klang Valley. I read about GPS works so so in environment with alot of building. So i doubt is useful if i travel mostly in KL city or PJ cause a lot of high rise building.

Can you guys/gals share your experience on the accuracy of the GPS in Klang Valley (esp: KL city & PJ), the speed where the GPS obtain a route to destination.

Thank you.

no problem at all... even for a phone GPS has no issue, i dont see why a dedicated GPS unit will have problem.

Unselect AGPS mean you are not using AGPS so no charge.

But if you use AGPS, all phone will get charges from telco. No exception. Similar to if you call somebody on your phone, of course got charges.

Lat/Long hddd mm.mmmm
N3 07.546 E101 37.381

these co-ordinates are the preset grid readings from m'sian foodblogs like from v k e o n g.com

60csx uses Lat/Long hddd.ddddd which is
N3.12577 E101.62302
which is more professional. its the international standard whereby most gps users, uses this. only noobs use hddd mm.mmmm

anyway u can do math calculations to convert manually if needed.

just remember 60 seconds=1 minute, 60 minutes=1 degree. So for example if you have N2 59 24.7 (Degree Minute Second/hddd mm ss.s), the calculation is as follows:

N2 59 24.7 (Degree Minute Second/hddd mm ss.s)
= N2 59 + (24.7/60)
= N2 59 + 0.41167 = N2 59.41167 (Degree Minute Decimal/hddd mm.mmm)
= N2 + (59.41167/60)
= N2 + 0.99019 = N2.99019 (Degree Decimal/hddd.ddddd)

actually yes, GMXT allows you to choose the format of keying in the GPS coordinates as you prefered. Best of all, no need to do maths! :

1) Go to "Settings"

2) Select "System"

3) Scroll down to "Location Format"

4) Choose your desired co-ordinate formats!

Hi all....I've just got my E72-1 about a month ago and I'm really loving it after switching from HTC Touch which I found to be a nuisance especially when I'm trying to text or even make a call while driving as I keep pressing the wrong keys! So, I'm really loving my new E72...except I can't seem to get the GPS to work! hmm.gif

I tested it today on my way home from work which is about 14-15km away. I went to GPS>Maps>Drive and selected "Drive home" which I've already predefined the location in the map.I took a slow drive all the way while constantly checking the phone. Well, the damn thing only displayed "Waiting for GPS" even after I've reached home about 40 mins later! rclxub.gif

Can someone tell me how to get the damn thing working? BTW its running on V051.018 firmware and I'm using Ovi Map V3.04...which I believe should be the latest versions available at the moment. I'm from Penang btw...anyone from Penang or anywhere else having the same problem?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers!

This is what i would do.

I will switch on Maps and WAIT until it has located the satellite before selecting "Drive".

To get a lock on satellite, I would:
1. Use AGPS which will cost about 10 sen each time.
2. Be stationary because if you are moving especially in a moving car, it will make it much harder to locate satellite.
