Swirlymms tied your software to your phone's IMEI number. So if you lose or change your phone, u need to buy the license (not app) again. If you restore (not format) the same phone, then u just need to fetch the license again from their servers.

Did u read the info before installing SBsettings?

Try swipping the top bar where the Network carrier, time and battery are located.

I am so feddup. I really need help. I have been googling for 3 damn hours already. I am trying to backup all my contacts and sms from my 1.1.2 iphone 2G but when I manage to SSH into the phone, I cannot find the files to backup nor the directory where the contacts and sms is stored. Will someone kindly please add me to their msn j45on@msn.com and guide me step by step on how to upgrade to firmware 2.2.1?

MANY THANKS TO THOSE WHO HEAR ME!

Hi i am planning to get an iphone 3g from australia next week. A year later im gonna bring the phone back and hopefully be able to use my sim via software unlock. However Pwnange Tool is only for Mac so im guessing if im running windows i won't have any luck?

In the meantime it's okay for me to upgrade to firmware 2.2 right and not 2.2.1? Without using Pwnage Tool.

Thnx in advnace!

Bro .. first of all, where did you browse to find the directory?

Izzit /private/var/root or /private/var/mobile?

Why? B'coz prior to 1.1.4, the address and sms are stored in /private/var/root/Library/AddressBook and SMS.

After 1.1.3 only it moved to /private/var/mobile/Library

If getting from Aus, no need software unlock. U can ask the telco that you subscribe to unlock it for you.

That's what i heard too, which means i can update to the latest firmware with no problems? That's good news since i don't feel like jailbreaking it. Another stupid question: Will it work on non 3g sims in malaysia?

Ok, that works great!

1. Can the files backup of the 1.1.2 firmware work in 2.2.1?

2. Now that I have backup the SMS, Calendar, CallHistory, AddressBook, Maps, Photo and DCIM folder, can I proceed to upgrade directly from 1.1.2 to 2.2.1?

3. Do I have to use the 2.2.1 file from the download link for iphone 2G or 2.2.1 from iTunes 8?

4. Do I have to hold Shift+Restore or just click Restore when I upgrade from 1.1.2 to 2.2.1 from iTunes?

i know the answer to this question but I still feel the need to ask because it would just make me feel a whole lot better before JB-ing.

should i JB, my unlocked singtel iPhone will remain unlocked should iIwish to go back to official firmware, right? everything will be back to normal, right?

on a side note, how is the *official* unlock done? is it hardware or software? and how does it survive firmware upgrades?

and thanks.

I tot it's forbidden to discuss warez or crack apps in here? Or the policies already change and I didn't know about it?

Do I have to change the permission for all the backup files after I replace them into the iphone with new firmware 2.2.1?

If yes, what permission should I set it to?

Permission should be 0644, Owner:mobile and Group:mobile.
