Pwnagetool Quickpwn: Pwn the iPhone and allow you to do so without a restore. Need to update the firmware (update baseband) of the iPhone v iTunes before using Quickpwn to jailbreaking or unlock. If not mistake, pwnage give you an option to place a new boot up icon as compared to the "pineapple" icon...

Customization of the boot logo was available on the first version of Pwnagetool 1.1 to 2.2.5 and with LogoMe available, more choices of boot logos to play with.
You can bypass the pineapple logo by unchecking it which by default set to Apple boot logo when your phone boots. Cheers This post has been edited by davidgary73: Feb 2 2009, 03:39 PM |

Actually we can also change the boot logo in Quickpwn but it requires some 'extra' steps to be taken.
Personally I like Quickpwn more than Pwnagetool but it's according to one's preferences. |

finally considering JB just so I can change "My Maxis" carrier name but am a little confused.
-> What happens to my apps from iTunes Appstore and Cydia after a restore or a firmware upgrade? -> You apps will be wiped out after every restore and firmware upgrade. Just resync back your iTunes apps to your phone and redownload Cydia apps. so this means that once I JB even legal apps downloaded from App Store will get wiped out after a firmware upgrade? firmware upgrades on non-JB phones don't suffer this, right? If restore or upgrade, the apps from AppStore will always be there when you sync it back. Only 3rd party apps will be deleted and need to re-install everytime you upgrade or restore.
In your case, you just need to use Quickpwn to jailbreak. Jailbreaking using quickpwn will not delete your apps from AppStore. Let say after this Apple come out with firmware 2.3 (example) and you already jailbreak and install some 3rd party apps from Cydia, once you upgrade or restore to that firmware, you'll lose the 3rd party apps from Cydia but the apps from AppStore can always be sync back from itunes. Means you have to reinstall every 3rd party apps again after a restore or upgrade and jailbreak the phone. Hope you get this. |

I've just upgraded to FW2.2.1 on my Iphone 2G.
Just update the FW using Itunes. But before you update download aptbackup from cydia and backup your applications. After updating your firmware. Run quickpawn to jailbreak then go cydia and download back aptbackup again and press restore. It will automatically download and install back all the applications you previously had from cydia. Just that simple. |
