You must be looking at the older chipsets. P43 and above all have PCI-E 2.0 on them.

I dont know anyting about P4 ver 2.0 mybe this older for pentium but this is new to AMD and ATi I think lol

i have GeCube HD4870 512Mb card, the rest of the system is as per my siggy...been using it a few months already...played Dungeon & Siege 2 previously, no problem. but a couple a week ago, i've been having problem while playing it. it started with game freezed a few second, then ok, then again...and sometime blank, then ok again...then system reboot. last week i fired up Vantage to test it...at loading screen to start the benchy, it frozen again. and this weekend, installed 3DMark2006...same thing also. i've checked the temp via Everest, the gpu temp is idling at 54c, during game it would be around 60ish...full load, dunno coz not able to run any test. GDDR temp is around 60ish on idle/normal use...but still not exceeding 70ish. i've used the Catalyst 8.10...during the ok time, i used 8.7, but then problem, remove 8.7 and installed 8.10...no go as well. i have no idea.
any idea? and what is the best way/apps for me to use to test the vga card - i'm not really into VGA stuff - more on RAM and CPU; so, consider me as noob in VGA stuff . thanks

I would say driver issue, but since you've tried reinstalling it, try the card on another system and see if it has the same problem if possible? Easiest way to see if it is caused by the graphics card or the rest of the system.

u use it freezes in 3dmark starting? i it actually load quite long on the 1st test.
u got oc ur GC?
also show us ur GPU temperature.

yes. i faces same thing. normally CCC has GPU activity and Temp indicator, regardless of whether you unlock the thing.

i didn't bother to unlock overdrive, simply because CCC has always come with the indicators and unlocking Overdrive just allows you to do adjustments, not making the dials appear.

I see no temperature reading also i find cacat already.

CCC no temp reading. HWmonitor also no temp reading. In the end, luckily GPU-Z got temp reading.

btw, i heard dat 8.10 has ~20% improvement on 4670, how true is dat?

gpu doesnt cause freeze.. always artifact first then bsod...

also for this sound card has issue with certain games.. dont use the driver on the CD.. for vista ...
has a lot of issues with crysis/spore/bio shock. etc..
download the driver from support.asus.com.. the latest one

i was using 8.9 and i plug in HD4670 - it didn't recognize. so i thought maybe driver problem, install 8.9 again - didn't work!

WTH!?!? so no choice download 8.10 and it works fine. so............ how to compare?

there is no 4600 driver in 8.9

that would be the simplest and easiest thing...but the hard part is...got no second rig to try la. most of my fren is those kind of use-bought-system-till-its-die one so, basically no other system to try lor...

as i said, i'm kinda noob in the vga area...that's why i just bought the high (not highest - no money) end vga...just run it at stock...
i dont think it's the temp...not using the stock one and the temp as i said is well kept under 70 and btw, this happened before the benchmark even started - so, basically the gpu just sitting goyang2 kaki and tooootttttttttt

and yes, i always (from time to time) install the new driver from asus...mobo as well as the xonar...and those game u've mentioned is the basically the latest game...mine is just the DS2

Non reference, go for Golden Sample. (Not sure if it is still the cheapest or not but definitely best price/performance ratio.)

If reference, just select any with the longest warranty + lowest price.

guys, i need some help. I just reformatted my pc yesterday. Then i installed the latest driver. And there are some part of my game, the fps drop a lot. From a fixed value at 125 until around 30-40(grassy area in et). Before this, everywhere 125fps fixed.

Then i tried to install my cd driver, then crashed. It say my utility cant detect the driver. So i tried to look around for 8.6 and 8.9. Both gave me the same result.

Need help.
