Hey guys,

I just got CQ40-401AX, im using fresh genuine Vista SP1, and I can't seem to install the ATI Driver. The installation shows complete without errors, but it only seems to install the Catalyst Install manager, but the display driver is not installed.

Does anyone have any pointers to this? i've tried googling but I dont really know which keyword to choose, i keep on being directed to ATI download page.

Help Please sad.gif

if u downloaded the driver from ATi website, u need to download it from HP
as the version for the laptop is slightly different, it has been optimized for HP

Laptop coolers doesn't help much as the ventilation design is very much flawed in the CQ40. If you want 2-3C cooler then you might wanna try a table fan pointing at it from the side and get a very large single fan cooler. I've crashed my graphics card two times in 1 week lately because of intense gaming, 4 hours 100C +. I was afraid it fried during the first time it crashed. biggrin.gif

AH no wonder. I downloaded from ATi. Thanks for your feedback. I've download the driver from HP just in case. I left my notebook running windows update the whole night last night and today when I wake up, the ATi drivers have been installed via Windows Update.

anyone can give me a hand on install drivers for winxp?

I have a Compaq CQ40-401AU. Now when I try to install the graphics card drivers, it keeps prompting me "Failed to initialize Catalyst installer" and then after that it will show something about graphic card not found/supported.

I've search through the whole internet for driver packs, but none of them seem to work(sp41456,sp39764,9-4_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu).

I checked the device hardware id and it matches the one in the inf, but it still doesnt install. Any ideas?

Just 1 question,
Anyone know if CQ40 - 134ax this model is still on sale ? That day i went to Ikano's All IT, it's not on display anymore. And it's not in their Apr 2009 broucher. And kindply pls tip me abt the price too. It's more or less the same with CQ40 - 133AX, just it's with Vista Premium.

the only issue here is that they dont officially support windows xp which is a pain in the ass. I have Vista on this laptop, but for certain programs I still need winxp and vmware is not a solution for me.

the model 133/134AX have been replaced by current 401/402AX with higher specs. If you insist on getting the 133/134AX, you may still get it directly from HP for RM1,750/2,000
