Here is my experience so far.

Between 428xg and pv80, tested side by side in Best Denki MV - the kuro showed more detailed black and hence the colour was more vibrant and real, py80 showed more greyish black, softer colour. Both runs thr source from a hard disc (panny demo) with same component cable. but comparing with LCD, pv80 still win hands down.

Between pv80 and py800, running "ghost rider" via blue ray and component. At 3m and above (<6m), py800 showed more detailed images - you can see the grains on the leather jacket N.cage was wearing, colour more vibrant and darker. Whereas, pv80 showed some great PQ, but the edges kinda soft/wash out compare to py800 - i guess its due to the xtra 1080 pixels.

I havent tried 428xg and py800 side by side yet. Eager to test but not free at the moment. But saw kuro playing its demo disc from blu ray - black is "ink black", but you can see the fine details in the blackness - grains/texture on the wall, etc. and whit is like "snow". I can appreciated the 3d like images from the kuro.

I havent see any of the three with s-video astro or normal dvd - the one you bought 3 for rm20!!.

My preference is with kuro, BUT, the price is almost the same as py800 - which is Full Plasma HD, x.v colour, 5k colour gradation. The warranty is the same (both are 5 years). For me still undecided, kuro 428xg or py800. if budget is limited, pv80 also a good choice - PQ much2 better than any Full HD LCD.

Afraid that if i put my money on pv80 - I'll regret not buying Kuro.
Afraid that if i buy Kuro - i'll missed the full hd features.
Afraid that if i buy py800 - i'll missed the PQ of Kuro....
That's my dillema... rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Hi IC-klass,
What is the price Best Denki quote you for 428xg and PV800? Just order one 42PV80 and was thinking of getting another one just like your case rclxub.gif still undecide between kuro or panny full HD? Anyone what is the best price for PV800 and Kuro 428xg? I am getting PV800 one thousand plus more cheaper than Kuro.

dunno about others.. but if same price, I'll take the 50in 1366x768 branded plasma over a full HD NON-LED-BACKLIGHT LCD..

Owners of PV80, do you guys notice any hissing noise from the back of this plasma when the unit is switched off on Standby? Mine gives out a small hissing sound from the back (loudest especially on the right top corner looking from the back) and I'm not sure whether is this a normal thing or should I go back and ask to change for a new one. I just got this unit delivered to me last night actually. I really appreciate all the inputs I get. Thanks ppl.

Lol.... How I wish it was the snake and not any electrical component defect. But weird thing is, I went out for breakfast and just got back, and the hissing sound just went away for some reason. Will monitor this closely and call up Panny if this sound still persists. 5 years warranty is super good for the purchase of this unit. Yet to post my warranty card to them though. GOnna have to do it later today or by latest tomorrow.

But I bought mine from the Panny Roadshow in Gurney Plaza, Penang. And I think the organizer was BHB (Ban Hin Bee). Their price for 0% 12 months instalment plan is very attractive. They delivered the unit to my place and chopped their company stamp on the warranty and told me to refer back to my sales person. But reading the instructions, I am supposed to send back the warranty card to Panny using the inserted envelope. So I decided to just get it done on my own la. Mailing it very easy only la. LOL....

The final price I got was RM3496 for 0% 12 months instalment plus free shipping, 1xViera HDMI cable, 1xViera S-Video cable for Astro, and a set of 9 pieces of Tupperware. Then I went into the cash chamber and managed to snap up RM77 ringgit. So, altogether I paid only RM3419. However, I had a small feud with my sales person yesterday as he told me last minute that they have no stock pula while he promised me they have plenty stock. Then finally they managed to find 1 unit (dunno whether is it a display set or not) and sent it to me last night. Anyone has any idea on how to check the panel display time on the PV80??

Open the front flap:
Hold down the V- Key while pressing "0" on the remote three times in quick succession

And hey presto the first service menu screen should pop up within a couple of seconds.
To exit I just turned off the TV then back on again, all previous settings were retained but then I did not alter anything, just checked the SW versions and hours etc

Thank you. You saved my purchase. I just checked mine and the display time is way over 366 hours and switched ON and OFF over 230 times. Called the branch office a while ago, and the manager apologized and promised me a new set once the received new stock for it next week. The manager was very nice and talked in a friendly manner. I guess I can highly recommend BHB to anyone who wants to get it at the roadshow in Penang. Thanks again @siewsphone.

BHB is terrible shop. I bought >RM10k stuff from them and I find their business ethic got problem. They'll sell you old stuff cheaply as new. I'll never buy from them.

Mine is ok. No hissing sound. I bought it last month. RM3679 sad.gif
You can check the manufactured date printed on the label at the back of the unit. Mine manufactured Oct 2008. Yeah, anyone know how to check the panel display time?

Mine is April 2008. Older than yours. Haha... Refer to @siewsphone post above for instructions. They may have sent me a display unit, but at least she's willing to swap mine with a new unit once she receives it. So, I guess it is still OK gua.

hmmm... one of their salesperson tried to push me to commit on Sunday at RM3299, saying no such price will be offered on Monday.
he mentioned the free gifts are the HDMI cables and S-video cables. no mention of the Tupperware (which is worth a bit of money i guess) nor the shipping (but i assume it should be free)
i didn't ask about any surcharge for easy payment though but i know SenQ and SEC can do it for a RM25 fee
