QUOTE(pierreye @ Sep 24 2008, 06:25 PM) Yamaha Sound bar for YST-4000 size is just nice for 42". 50" plasma would be longer than the sound bar. I get my YST4000 from AVE Sales and Services in Chai Ling park. Best price at RM 4500 + free one yamaha sub. ooh... thanx my brother penangkia. sounds like it's a good fit for 42" display in future master bedroom... free sub some more AVE sales & services?? must keep an eye out next time i'm there... only know 'soundjoy' there |

QUOTE(law1777 @ Sep 24 2008, 09:59 PM) sound bar vs 5.1/7.1?? anyone?? my 2 cents, yamaha soundbar isn't half bad provided u have a good sub to pair with it.... my viewing distance is about 10ft and my future tv will be 42".. is it small or big enough?? A good 5.1 system (equivalent std to the yamaha soundbar) is great for std sized room or living room.... gives better surround sound effect. 7.1 is required when u have a longer room to provide ideal surround sound. if room too small, going to be noisy... |

QUOTE(mikapoh @ Sep 25 2008, 09:54 AM) IF we have BD player and HD support receiver, then not using 7.1 set up will be a waste since not fully utilised right ?? All this HD kits are supposed to play through 7.1 speakers true? But then, not so practical is the standard living room like most of us have. Please comment. First of all, BD & True HD doesn't mean 7.1Most BDs today only support 5.1 7.1 is designed for longer/deeper dedicated room, not practical in std square type living room. |

QUOTE(bmipp @ Dec 11 2008, 01:53 AM) 1) Samsung 40" Lcd LA40A750 = RM 5080 just ordered 52A"850 (RM9,770) for living room & 40"A650 (RM4,990) for bedroom (wanted 46" A650 but out of stock d)2) Samsung 46" Lcd LA46A750 = RM 6450 3) Samsung 46" Lcd LA46A850 = RM 6950 4) Samsung 46" Lcd LA46A950 = RM 7750 These 4 are so tempting, but each 100 level up, means loss of RM500 at least..;( Now A950 got the best review and rating all over the review side for its stunning picture and also blacks level, which can be compared to KURO PLASMA even..this impressed me a lot... decided on Samsung after contemplating Sony & Sharp LCD & Panny PY850... hopefully no regrets. |

QUOTE(ronaldjoe @ Dec 11 2008, 11:22 PM) Why not considering LA46A950 or LA52A650... slightly cheaper reason i went for A850 was 1) it's ultra slim (almost 1/4 of A950 thickness) & 2) my living room is all white & black so needed a "touch of color" I see A650, A750, A850 are pretty much the same in PQ when they are compared side by side (to my peasant's eye) Btw you got nice stuffs As for bedroom, I still prefered 100hz tv but didn't want too expensive wan so got the A650 Added on December 11, 2008, 11:35 pmand thanx... they do look nice, let's hope they don't dissapoint in performance This post has been edited by ronnt88: Dec 11 2008, 11:35 PM |

if the tv is full HD, it's capable to display 1080p (1920 x 1080) but only if it's fed with true 1080p source i.e. bluray for now. Of coz u can get a AVR / DVD player that can upscale a source to 1080p but it'll never be as good as original 1080p source i.e bluray.
if tv is HD ready, only able to display 1080i resolution or 1024 x 768... Added on December 11, 2008, 11:57 pmoh and err.. u need HDMI cables to transmit 1080p too.. This post has been edited by ronnt88: Dec 11 2008, 11:57 PM |

QUOTE(havocx @ Dec 12 2008, 01:54 AM) Father in law got it for RM3950. Thats with Credit Card payment and a 80km shipping. No free gifts though. Now since thats not working out, am thinking of getting another Full HD 1920 x 1080 Plasma Screen. Will have to work on returning the original one though and having a talk with the sales person on the wrong info passed. I may take a while in replying to your next post though, age and sleep has caught up and ill need a quick shuteye. Thanks for your help though, its been enlightening At least no longer getting mixed info everywhere on the Net. ya.. it was actually on my list of things to get for christmas till the price was confirmed to be too high for me I guess the next best thing to the pioneers would be the Panasonic PY850H, price for 50" was around RM12k++ last I checked so should be considerably lower for the size ur looking for... So, go check these out bro.... have fun. |
