let's just say google keeps updating PR every month now. It's either you are affected by it or not. I've seen some cases when a PR4 goes to PR5 without any other people getting PR change at all.

Probably not. They are linking to a file, not a page. But I'm not blocking hotlinking as I myself hotlink my own image to other sites, forums for example, and bandwidth is not much of an issue, yet.

In layman term, it's how google rate you in a scale of 1-10. Having a good page rank helps you earn better in reviews also give u an advantage in the SEO.

I just noticed today, my sites' PR updated:

1 site PR3 to PR4
1 site PR0 to PR2
2 sites PR0 to PR1
2 sites PR1 unchanged

wow. PR0-PR2. This site must be good!

not really, maybe due to a lot of link exchange

Added on January 26, 2011, 8:20 amjust update blogs daily, PR4 blog at least 3 posts per day, PR2 blog at least 1 post per day, PR1 blogs few posts per month Didn't do anything on link exchange but all blogs have link in my PR4 blog

I also seldom exchange link with ppl in my PR4 blog, unless the sites have PR3 or higher, or they buy "site wide link" from me

depends on the google's mood
But basically they will update 3~4 times per year

Only it must be done cautiously and carefully selected sites for backlinks

use google pagerank checker to check a equal measurement of your pagerank.

Google's Page Rank algorithm is really hard to understand but I agree that with constant updates with high quality content (especially now after Google's recent 'Farmers' update) and related keywords would really help your PR to rise quite well.

Link exchanges should still work pretty well as well, as Google still considers these quite highly when determining a site's page rank. But things may have changed with the recent update.

Anybody have any idea on this?
