to get max bokeh with your kitlens, zoom to 55mm and set to widest aperture smile.gif which means smallest f number... dun get new lens so fast..play around with this kit lens first

spare battery and a 4gig card should be more than enough for the casual shooter. smile.gif

the star bokeh he is talking i think tis the DIY thingey... no la dun think of those first...those are when you can master the basics eg aperture shutterspeed etcetc... a normal Hoya UV filter should do the job to project your lens...

oic.. is it useful for a beginner like me orenzai? i scroll thru the forum and some of the people using 3rd party battery as back up. can anyone recommend me 3 party battery(price,where to get)? or better buy ori battery? nod.gif

oren, can u explain why max bokeh can be achieved with the kit lens at a focal length of 55mm and biggest aperture? i know that nice bokeh can be obtained when using big apertures, but as to the max focal length, i dunno yet. Thanks! biggrin.gif

bokeh = out of focus = shallow depth of field.

the longer the focal length, the shallow the depth of field.

the closer the focus distance, the shallow the depth of field.

D40 kit len can do a nice bokeh at 55mm...
