rental range frm 400-600 dependingn location n area
if u dun mind sleepin in a windowless rom can get 200++ food again depending on how u eat u damn stingy n dun mind eat same food everyday 1 day 10 buck will more then enuf transport depending on whr u work sum places offers free shuttle service so it'll range from 50-80 permonth utilities elec+water+ internet about 30-60 per person assumin u r sharing depending on whether u switch on ur ac often o not so if u only do the above n hav no life watsoever u r using less then 1k a month jus bear in mind tat when u come over here u need to pay deposit n agent fees for ur rental n also 1st month rental so if u renting 400 is 400+400+400 = 1.2k up front n ur comp might ask u to pay for all those meical chk up, work pass processing bla bla bla about 200 should b more then sufficient |

QUOTE(sukhoi37 @ Dec 20 2008, 01:45 AM) that's just you. True. I also come here to singapore more for career advancement, money is secondary for now. Once i've establish contacts, experience and marketable knowledge, then can expand my horizon and earnings.i work here at much lower pay. but it gives me better career path over malaysia. i don't sacrifice most of the things you mentioned, i still can go back to hometown once or twice a month. I dont go back to my hometown for years also i no prob since got nothing there for me. |

QUOTE(MPIK @ Dec 20 2008, 12:43 AM) As I have mentioned earlier, it is only worth to work in SG if you are offering a pay of at least $3,500 and above. lol, a lot of us already leave our family when we continue our studies unless you are from big city like KL. I am from mlk, work in KL and Singapore has no different as I will not stay with my parents in both caes. Bf/gf, just go together lor, nothing to be worry. I really wonder why u keep saying 3500 only worth to work in sg.Otherwise, it totally worthless and pointless in my opinion especially you need to leave your families, love ones, gf/bf, wife/husband etc etc. There are many more things that you need to sacrifice as well. Hence, by earning only $3.5K and above can compensate for all your losses... |

Then there are those who earn around 2-3k but budget accordingly so they dont need to worry everytime about cash.Diff budget for diff folks. I know alot of ppl budget 10 dollar for food, i too budget myself around there, except for weekends where i tend to goto restaurants or cafe. I have the bad habit of going to either brewerkz or paulanar brahaus since i like to micro-brew. |

I have not lived with my parents in Ipoh since I was 17 (shipped off to college immediately after SPM).Except for the fact I don't drive, working in Sg is no different from working in KL. Same shit, different currency. Add the fact that my savings is always 2.3X whatever I could save in KL, it was a no-brainer to come here as long as my salary was the same (S$ for RM). Having said that, if my next posting is in HK, Tokyo, London, Zurich or New York etc... I'd drop Sg in a flash. As for GF etc... go another country, sample the local delights lah. If you're attached, just bring her along lah. Nice to have a familiar body warm your bed in a foreign land. |

Some of us are only paid below the salary mentioned above but yet we find ourselves surviving here. We are able to save a little (not much). Well, little is better than nothing right? I could earn a lot but yet I spend all of it on pointless stuff ending up without a penny at every end of the month.
The important thing is to learn to budget and manage your expenses. Allocate an amount of your salary to be keep as savings. But try not to save too much. As a human, we need to enjoy or relax. So try not to feel guilty if you are spending a little bit for your own consumption. Treat it as a reward for your hard work. I tend to notice that humans usually will tend to spend based on their impulse. So beware on what have you spent! Even small penny meant something financially in the long term.
