i wanna ask...if bringing duty free liquor out of Sg, will I be taxed? Tried searching the customs website but i cannot find concrete information.
*

No worries. Just apply those job even stated singaporean or SPR. My job requirement also stated singaporean and have car transport. Me? I am Malaysian and without car transport. Still I got the job due to the skills I have. But many jobs that I applied turned me down, due to the requirement they stated. I have eventually send out my resume to 300+ company. laugh.gif  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

PR and Citizen is different. Citizen require you to join NS. Unless your dad from PR change to Citizen. Then you have to go to NS.

Your dad help you to apply PR? Can, no problem, what it will take some time, let's say 3 months? Can you afford for being jobless for 3 months+? Don't forget the period of looking for a job. Economy isn't good now actually, many company trying to cut cost, came out in the newspaper.

Anyway, Good Luck. smile.gif
I think some information you provide is wrong. If his father is PR and apply PR for him, this mean he will be 2nd generation of PR and he will entitle to NS.

Same case to if PR marry PR, their children will be PR but entitle to NS as well.

Please correct me if I am wrong

QUOTE(nonadoes @ Sep 25 2008, 03:18 PM)
hey guys..
i'm interested to work in Singapore as well,
so i've search jobsdb.com and found jobs which related to my field.
So i register myself to jobsdb.com.sg instead.
Prepared the resume and attach it already.
then i've apply for the job so waiting for confirmation..

my question is, is it alrite that i register unter jobsdb (sg) instead of jobsdb (my). By the way, i do not have any passes yet or PR pass.
How long u guys wait for the reply from such job provider ?
Does the company will apply for passes for you if you are hired?

i'm in the field of automation in Semiconductor. How is the automation industry there? I demanded $3500(nego) in my resume, should this be the market price?
*
is alright register uner jobsDB.sg as I register there as well to seek for singapore jobs.
waiting reply? its really depends to agent or company itself, some call u the next day u apply, some call only after few weeks or even 1 months, or some dun even get call tongue.gif
most company will apply passes for you, no worry. If not you can just apply yourself, nothing fancy there.

For your salary part, I have no idea.

Yup, you can do that. But only makes sense if your family income (total of both husband & wife) are below the income ceiling (S$8K) to buy HDB flats.
*
Anyone know the income ceiling S8k is before deduction of CPF or after deduction? If after deduction mean the gross salary can be like 10k per month as 20% go to CPF.

QUOTE(seantang @ Oct 7 2008, 05:41 AM)
Good question. I think it's gross, total household income.

And btw, if your gross salary is 10K, the employee CPF is a max of $950/mth CPF. If your gross salary is 100K, you still pay a max of $950/mth.
*
Yes, If the Net household Income cannot more than 8k ceiling for apply hdb will be have quite big different as gross household income cannot more than 8k.
The 10k gross salary here refer is for household and not personal(each personal cap at 4500 for CPF)and I forget about the CPF cap at 4500. thanks for that.
However, if net household income <= 8k mean , husband and wife total gross salary can be almost 10k as well. Eg 4.9k each - 950each =3950*2 =7900.

This is the thing on my mind because some of calculation in Singapore is calculate base on net income(deduct cpf) like Income Tax.

So, anyone have any idea on this? Anyone bought HDB b4?

Dude, i knew that. That's what i reiriterated in my bracket lar.

Im asking, whether isit by law PR must be offered 13 months salary? as opposed to the normaly 12 mths salary. I.e. whether PR really have such a privelage?
*
Even not PR can entitle for 13 month salary, 13 month is common practice in Singapore but not a must. But so far all my fren i know entitle 13 months no matter they are PR or not.

when I submit my application, I reach ICA before or around 7am and there ia like 10+ ppl infront me.
After they open door, just like cktwai say go to the right side and take the lift straight up to fifth floor. then rush/walk to queue counter to get the queue counter.

Is it worth wake up so early so queue and wait 1 hour + ? For me I think is worth because before 9am I already walk out from ICA building with my gf and go back for breakfast.

if not mistaken for submission you just go 1 counter ,just submit and settle. Those need go though a lot counter is after u get your PR approval and those cannot done in weekend, only can be on weekday as stated in your approval letter.

QUOTE(MPIK @ Dec 20 2008, 12:43 AM)
As I have mentioned earlier, it is only worth to work in SG if you are offering a pay of at least $3,500 and above.

Otherwise, it totally worthless and pointless in my opinion especially you need to leave your families, love ones, gf/bf, wife/husband etc etc. There are many more things that you need to sacrifice as well. Hence, by earning only $3.5K and above can compensate for all your losses...
*
lol, a lot of us already leave our family when we continue our studies unless you are from big city like KL. I am from mlk, work in KL and Singapore has no different as I will not stay with my parents in both caes. Bf/gf, just go together lor, nothing to be worry. I really wonder why u keep saying 3500 only worth to work in sg.

The PR approval is depends a lot on the officer who processing your application. My wife get approval in less than 1 month after submit, mine get approval only on 6 month(very long for msian), I have call several times to ICA and answer get is pending status( which mean haven't start process at all).

Yeah, you cannot withdraw the CPF even after you decide to go back to msia. Just same like EPF.

QUOTE(wallaboo @ Mar 2 2009, 12:17 PM)
Hi guys,

Need some help here. Sorry, I know this topic has been discussed a few months ago, but I'd like to get your opinions on my situation.

Gonna apply for Sg PR, filled in the form aldy and passed it to the HR of my co. to fill in the last part. HR told me tat this has to be discussed among the management coz I'm under 1 yr contract and they have to see if 'they will allow me to apply for PR' (well, not their exact words, but something to this effect. I think they're trying to save their money, coz my co. seem to prefer to take in foreigners rather than locals/PRs).

Anyway, supposing they turn out to be really difficult and refuse to fill in the employer information for me, what should my next course of action be? If they really did that, I think it's very unfair of them, coz one of my colleagues from China, he's also under 1 yr contract and they just filled out the details for his application 2 weeks ago. Dunno if the whole process was difficult for him on his part....maybe he argued back with them on this, i dunno.

Can I still go ahead with my application even if they don't wanna fill in that section for me? I've a Master's degree and been working here in sg for 1 yr. What are my chances if i just proceed without that section being filled in? I've got another 4 more months til my contract ends. Tell you, the boss of this co. super kiasu and chinaman. Even the china ppl can't stand him!

Made my e-appointment for 1st week April btw. All documents covered aldy except this. Oh, that and my recent passport photo.

Thanks a lot....appreciate all the help i can get!
*
Your contract have only 4 month leftonly and you only submit it on 1 week of april. Do you know that after you submit you application, you can't leave your current company until you get the PR approval. If you change job between this period, very likely you will need to resubmit the application again.
PR approval is taking time 1 month to 3 month to approval but sometimes they will take longer time depends which officer process and how many application they have on current time. Currently a lot ppl is applying PR and it it normal for them to take more than 3 month to approve the application. Wish you good luck.

just wanna ask for opinions, I just applied PR mid march. Today I got a job offer with 200 dollars more of my current salary. Should I take up this job and forget about my PR or wait for my PR and then apply for other jobs again?
*
As I know, if you change employer after you submit your PR application. You will need reapply again as you will be ask a proof that you still work in same company when you get approval.

If you current company willing to prove for you even after you left the company then is ok. If not better think carefull, the decision is just you want get ur PR urgently or the 200 only. 2 choose 1.

I think first time is 5 years, second onwards you can renew for longer as my friend renew it last year to 10 years.

Is singapore rental is reducing? Quite hardly to feel it though.

EMmm?!if there is a difference in subsidiary for HDB and hospital etc, then you might think whether want to live in this country for a very long period. if no difference, then I find it no point as we only have a chance to change citizenship in our life. if in later stage u find out AUSSIE country more better, you will not have a chance to do so anymore.
*
you mean one person can change one citizenship in a life only?
