That's no secret weapon! laugh.gif
That is more like an open secret! It's basically singing beautifully. Been listening to it since morning.. I have lost count on the 'burn-in' hours and I think there are no more sonic improvements.. However the speaker relay board is still a prototype. Just completed the PCB drawing today.. will try to etch it tomorrow..

Good work Y.C!
I see a lot of effort (and blisters) has gone into it tongue.gif

Yeah that 12VDC,ongbs may have a point there. One of the reasons why I never used them.. wink.gif

The circuit for the JFET buffer is widely available on the Net. Original circuit is using 2SK170s, but can't get those from JP. NIXIE was out of stock but by the looks of the amount dust collecting in the box I'd say it had been a long while they're out!
I got an equivalent. If you're still interested, PM me for the circuit ya! biggrin.gif

Nice built Y.C smile.gif
The 12V DC socket center pin is half round pinx2 right?
I feel that this type of DC socket can't hold the 12V plug firmly  hmm.gif

gabanyayaya,
I think I know which one.
From MAPLIN going down towards NIXIE, just a few shops away.. about 4-5 shops. Kinda expensive that shop however have bought transformers and casings, provided you bargain a 'lil bit.

Gabanyayaya,
Like Y.C. mentioned. Its a common part. Should be able to get it from some other shops.
BTW the electrical/electronic repair shop is further down that road.. Not many electronic shops along that road actually and thats the one we're talking about! tongue.gif

QUOTE(gabanyayaya @ Oct 21 2008, 12:59 AM)
ERrrrr I think better put the shop name lah better to find....all I know between MAPLIN and NIXIE there is an electronic shop repairing tv only.......

PcWork,
Even playing at high volumes, when I touched my T-Amp chip, it is just warm to the touch, ie no 'burning' sensation.. Something 'wrong' on your amp? hmm.gif

PcWork,
I am supplying my T-Amp with 13.6VDC. It doesn't get 'hot', infact the bass got 'tighter'.. wink.gif

I saw an aluminium casing similar to one bought by Y.C. at NIXIE.
Saw it being displayed having a price tag of RM46.XX which I think is not a bad pricing. I do not know if they have it in stock or not as some of the nicer casing being displayed.. especially those slim ones are 'out of stock'..
The ones that they usually have are usually the plain vanilla type, which is kinda pathetic to me..
Honestly, DIY casing choices in JP are terribly limited.. mad.gif

biamp so far onhold. current single stereo is giving me much pleasure that I decide to enjoy the music first until there are urges for an 'upgrade'.. tongue.gif
Oh, as far as sounds are concerned, I have not tried with my T-Amp but have tried that with my previous amp, there are some improvements.. nothing to shout at or day and night difference, still I can live without biamping for awhile.. I just need to finish my buffer pre-amp first before biamping.. wink.gif

QUOTE(ekool @ Oct 22 2008, 01:50 PM)
..snip snip..

any help guys to look for a good casing locally?

jazzy.
thanks. btw how is your bi amp? would like to know how it sounds cos i might want to try it. i have a pair of bi amp speakers lying around and now is only using the std connection.

xtorm,
hey are you sure 13.8? Ok, will adjust my SMPS to 13.8, just a 0.2V from current voltage and see if there are 'some improvements'.. wink.gif

Please refer to postings by metalmania, the one with the map on the subject of locating a shop that Y.C. got his speakers binding post/sockets.
If you can find Pudu Plaza, NIXIE is just across the streen from the main entrance!

Hey! will you be so busy again for this weekend's TT Session? tongue.gif

QUOTE(xtorm @ Oct 22 2008, 04:50 PM)
....

hmm ta2024 are reported sounding very nice at 13.8v

still i cant figure out where is nixie...hahaha, the casing at rm40++ is reasonable, time to find nixie then biggrin.gif

Y.C.,
Morning! biggrin.gif
Yep it's RE Spares! And my guess was right! (4-5 shops away from Maplin) wink.gif

I am voting for same time/venue and obviously the same kind hearted host! laugh.gif
Eventhough I have something on in the morning, I am confident that I can make it at the anticipated time..
Any new attendees than the previous list?

QUOTE(Y.C. @ Oct 23 2008, 01:18 AM)
Gabanyayaya,
The shop's name is R.E. Spares Sdn Bhd and exactly 4 shops away from Maplin.
Guys,
For our t/t session this weekend, do we go ahead with same time and same venue as originally scheduled last week?  Let us do it with a bang and the more people coming, the more merrier the t/t session will turn out to be.  rclxm9.gif

Y.C.,
It takes one to know one! ehem! wink.gif

I might be bringing a friend also a forumer here. He is also a T-Amp user but the DIY amp was made and given by his friend. He might be bringing his other gear(which I have forgotten what tongue.gif) just to share with us..
Definitely looking forward to this saturday..

QUOTE(Y.C. @ Oct 23 2008, 01:38 AM)
Jazzy,
Yes, good morning. Sarcasm in greeting?  laugh.gif I had a tight schedule today and dropped flat immediately after dinner.

Don't quite know about new attendees; on my end here been 'persuading' my colleague to join us in our session. Let's hope most if not all the T-ampers and potential ones will join us - certainly a good learning experience for all  in my view.
