Y.C.,
You go right ahead with your pre-amp ie getting the extra pair RCA plugs.
I already have a 100K one.. well I think I do.. lemme check..
So we're gonna have 2 passive pre-amp for the session!

wui,
The 100k passive one is ready but but other preamp project is currently 'onhold' due to work commitments. I have an 'active' preamp kit but like bsl was saying, that might 'color' the T-Amp and may not represent the true sound of our T-Amps on test... How's your T-amp? bsl,
It's not a matter of believing, rather an accepted logical reasoning that was given by you previously. I use an active pre-amp with myT-amp all the time. It matches well with what I have. During the session we're on a different setup. An active pre-amp may or may not result in a better sounding music. Your original proposal was interpreted that it would be better to use a passive, otherwise all the modifications that we did may not be obvious.. and that was the main objective of the TT Session, ie to listen to the different modifications. Betul tak, sifu? QUOTE(bsl555 @ Oct 15 2008, 11:24 PM) Caught you saying: This post has been edited by jazzy939: Oct 16 2008, 09:04 AMErrr.. quoting me and believing my view again? An active pre-amp may also enhance the sound and dynamics for more enjoyment lah. Depending on my mood, I periodically switch among 3 kinds of pre-amplifier to obtain a variety of color and tone. A passive pre can sometimes result in the music sounding on the lean side...thats primarily because the input sensitivity of a pure power amplifier is much lower than an integrated amplifier. More often, a power amp is designed to match with an active pre-amplifier. |

PcWork,
Good job there! Just by looking at the cables I knew it was you! You're running a stock T-Amp but with your cables.. wonder how much different if compared to a stock T-Amp with 'normal' cables.. Will you be joining us tomorrow? |

Y.C.,
I think next week would be more apt, in the sense that more would be able to make it, bsl included hopefully.. My vote for next week? YES! QUOTE(Y.C. @ Oct 17 2008, 10:29 AM) PcWork, Jazzy, I do not know whether if we were to push our T-amp T/T session to next weekend, would we have more people attending it? So far the only people having confirmed they are coming are Jazzy, Gabanyayaya, March, Xtorm and Y.C., did I missed out anyone? On my part, the full discrete T-amp is not completed yet with some capacitors in Vishay MKT1822 2.2uF and Panasonic FM 470uF arriving from Farnell next week. What say all, do we carry on as planned or we postphone our t/t session to the following weekend? |

Shakatak is more into funk jazz genre.. with catchy electric piano lead and female backups.. always their signature..
Brian Simpson? hehehe listening to him right now! Currently making some PCBs using ExpressPCB for my speaker relay board, buffer pre-amp and a buffer board.. That question will be answered next week! Brian Simpson? Streaming mah...
I am looking forward to the buffer pre-amp too.. can't wait to hear how it would match the T-Amp and later the Det'nator. Yes.. the JFET transistor. From what I read, JFET should sounds like a tube (?).. Hopefully can get one prototype running tonite or by tomorrow.. QUOTE(gabanyayaya @ Oct 18 2008, 05:14 PM) Yep....funk jazz is their signature......what Brian Simpson....??? You play from CD or ripped from some website???? Keen to know.....and hear.... |

Yes.. we are aware of that!
Honestly I am kinda curious too how much that TA2020 might cost.. then again the Proton is also locally 'assembled' |
