Sooner or later i'll like someone's wife to throw all the stuffs. Forgiveness more easy to get mah~ brows.gif

The long awaited review is here! biggrin.gif

After 1 hour of warming up and 1 hour of listening.
Comparisons are made using the T-Amp that has clocked >45 hours burn in.
Initial power supply was a DIY Bench PSU, rated at 3A. Voltage used was 12.6VDC
The unit under scrutiny is a SMPS, rated at 4.3A. Voltage set was 12.34VDC tongue.gif
No changes to main unit made(T-Amp)
Main CD used; Jim Tomlinson-Brazillian Sketches and some other fav CDs to check out a few aspects of the sounds.

Do not expect a day and night type of differences.
I'll make this brief... it's half past one! laugh.gif

Found the music is on a slightly 'faster' beat. Better in the 'attack/decay' department.
Vocals and percussions really stood out. thumbup.gif
On linear PSU they are quite laid back and 'slight' mellow.
On SMPS, they're slightly forward. I just love the sounds of percussions, cymbals sounded so natural...
On the track 'I Concentrate On You' not only I could hear the fingers moving on the guitar's strings and frets, I could 'feel' it.
Still on guitar, not only I hear the notes as the results of the strings being pluck, I could 'hear' the plucking too! biggrin.gif

On the track 'Gentle rain', the saxaphone being played can make your hair 'stand'. You 'feel' the saxaphone being played right in front of you..
This goes through out the entire album!
Same track, before the start of the singing, I could actually detect when Stacey Kent started to open her lips... I wasn't aware of this earlier!

Bass on the linear PSU was rather tightly controlled. Some may like this. tongue.gif I used to...
ON SMPS, the bass is now 'breathing'. Can be misinterpreted as 'loose'.. Extended listening confirmed this. Bass now is simply bass!! Period.
I especially love the weight in the mid bass without losing the low end..this was very evident and was heard when the burn in is more than 45 hours, as I reported earlier. The SMPS really sums this up nicely.

The overall soundstage is just slightly spacious.. but I sensed a deeper depth.. even sitting to one side of the speakers it is quite obvious.
Now not only you hear music, you can feel/experience it too. thumbup.gif

Before this a few days back, I did use a 'laptop' type SMPS, rated at 2.5A, 12VDC. Very subtle changes in certain part of sounds but NOT overall. In this instances, I still prefer the linear PSU instead.

Now, this so called 'industrial grade' SMPS is wayyyy better! Will NOT be switching back to linear PSU for now.. tongue.gif

Conclusion: T-Amp + SMPS= marriage made in heaven wub.gif

ok. 'deep tune' is out of my league.. tongue.gif

you're welcome bro ongbs.

I also can't wait to see/hear how those toroid inductors will perform... wink.gif
Personally I think it may not be much... tongue.gif

Me too not expect too much improvement over inductors as they located at output stage, the effects might not be as obvious as input caps smile.gif

those inductors are just filters to remove the modulation from the audio.. but then again, you may be right! tongue.gif

I guess it will affect the frequencies (like crossover) more than give impact to the soundstage, but if the value out too much maybe noise/humming will occur hmm.gif

Welcome to the club!!! thumbup.gif

Oh.. one more thing, I can really turn the volume up! higher than 10 o'clock position on my pre-amp.
normally 9-9.30 position would suffice! tongue.gif
