Y.C.,
I will concur to that! Playing around with the stock board and Junior's T-Amp initially have this 'inrush' current sounds from the speakers, muted but still there. After clocking more than 20 hours of burn in.. it's 'almost' gone.. thumbup.gif

A short one here.
Been 'burning in' my buffer pre-amp since yesterday.
Conclusion: It has taken my T-Amp to the 'next level'. In a nutshell; Bass is much 'thicker' and I feel a full bodied sound spectrum without ever losing the details that what made the T-Amp famous for.... Good bye Yamaha pre-amp and passive pre-amp! laugh.gif
BTW, the buffer pre-amp is running on 9VDC battery brows.gif

Was in JP this morning and bought these two casings, for some other projects but quite suitable for the T-Amp.
Sold by NIXIE, first casing will costs RM28.00 while the second one finished in gun metal grey color costs RM46.60. No discount tongue.gif

I have 2 units of T-amps built up now: their casings exactly same and/or almost identical to Jazzy's newly acquired ones.

I will try to post some pictures later.

More pictures of my 1st T-amp with attenuator, finally getting a casing proper to house them. As could be seen from the middle pix, it is not fully completed and I am trying to finish it before the weekend is over.

Geez.. the speaker terminals are a bit too close for comfort. Your speaker cables be plug terminated otherwise careless bare wire connections may risk a short circuit.

Thanks for advice, bsl. Those speaker binding posts are rather difficult to work with my low-30W Hakko 501 Red. Solder refuse to stick to them and I have to apply flux after that getting more of less same result. I intend to wrap them with heat-shrink tubes once I am done and shall be removing the green-coloured connectors to solder wires directly onto the T-amp board.

Y.C.,
Looking good! thumbup.gif
Yeah.. those speaker binding posts may be a wee bit too close but if you're using banana plugs(are you?), I think they should be okay! wink.gif
The T-Amp is well protected against short circuit but then again, 'prevention is better than cure!' laugh.gif

P/S, I simply wish your pix can be sharper/clearer tongue.gif

Jazzy, thank you.
I didn't fully comprehend bsl's comment on speaker binding posts but jumped at the opportunity to pour out my miseries on difficulty in soldering them. doh.gif I shall be using a pair 1.5m Chord Carnival SiverPlus cables terminated with Deltron screw-on plugs (with far better grip than bananas), so chances of wires shorting each other are rather remote. You been working on your new casings too? And one of them meant for your buffer pre-amp? Glad to know that you like its sonic quality after putting in efforts to try, experiment and assemble it together. thumbup.gif
My priorities may be a little out; been using my old faithful Sony Ericsson handphone since I do not have a proper digital camera.

Errr.. Sony dealers had a warehouse sale (so called) at Amcorp Mall from 7th to 9th Nov. I think I saw good bargains there for some Cybershots. Couple of hundred for something decent mar!..

Thanks again, bsl. I missed the warehouse sale as today is 9th Nov. Even if I had not, I have already burst my allocation for hifi & related items and temporary would not buy a digital cam.

Jazzy, those are the Deltron plugs. I got to know them since my Epos ES11 days as these loudspeakers are without connectors and supply them as standard fittings. XLO Electric (cables) also use them extensively. To me, they were the best kept secret in hifi - good contact, no colouration yet affordable and are available from Farnell at RM9.XX each.

Oh Jazzy bro, you're right! It really looks er...bare.

Okay, okay, I know lah. You like plenty of room to work in. nod.gif And enough space for future addons. thumbup.gif Like that active X-over, perhaps?

Yippee, I'll be getting my very own TA2024 to play with tomorrow . flex.gif

Bro March..
You're beginning to 'read' my style, eh? wink.gif.. there are reasons for the 'bareness'..wink.gif

Future expansion to include a VSPS board..Very Simple Phono Stage or a Phonoclone ( I still have a TT to cater to..) wink.gif
Backup power supply/battery charger circuits.. I am beginning to like DC power! thumbup.gif
Digital/electronic volume control.. to name but a few ideas I'm 'toying' with...
May look into powering the T-Amp by battery too! brows.gif

By the way, there is absolutely no hiss at max vol. The background is dark.. very dark.. Playing vocals at night give you 'goose bumps'..

Now working on a second buffer board.. Version 2 brows.gif

You're getting the TA2024 too? Serious? rclxm9.gif Welcome to the CLUB!!!! thumbup.gif

P/S

They VSPS/Phonoclone may look like this... biggrin.gif

Nice pre-amp, Jazzy.

And welcome to the TA2024 T-amp Club, March

One last picture (internal) of my 1st T-amp duly completed. I am putting away my tools now; my Rosewood jewellery box (casing), 3rd T-amp board which I already replaced some of the SMDs with discrete capacitors and resistors could wait. No more T-amp modding for at least the next 2 months.

Not really THAT VSPS (very simple PS)!..unless you buy all the ready made main components and fit it all up together...thats the simple part of the project. biggrin.gif
Actually some so called hi-end PS don't even come near it and moreover command a rediculously high price tag.
Split the PSU and phono stage to a 2 box design and it'll command even higher price tag.
