QUOTE(jazzy939 @ Nov 12 2008, 07:05 PM) Both, I reckon. I may occasionally hook it up with the Yulong DAH1 `cause sometimes I'll be using the USB input from PC based sources, and when I'm spinning the turntable, I need the slight boost due to the low output from the CA640P (at least until bsl555 fixes that problem for me). And there's also the convenience of the wireless remote in using the Yulong. I'm a true couch potato. But when I'm playing with my CDP I can get by with just a passive controller, so I'll have a volume pot added in at some point in time. At the moment, your passive preamp is doing the job extremely well with the TA2022s. As for doing a buffer preamp...I think that's going a bit too far for my DIY capabilities. |

Monkey King,
Thanks for the post! Interesting stuffs you got there. You too have that F-ELNA eh? (fake ELNA) I am using that F-ELNA as my input caps. Quite happy with it for the time being.. Welcome to the club! |

yeah, i dont really trust local electronic shops, i used it as filter caps for my car tweeter (1st order config), in the end the tweeter goes bad....
plan to get a LC meter or just a capacitance meter... to measure caps.... by the way...i have something else to busy with... in the midst of restoration..... ![]() ![]() Added on November 12, 2008, 11:32 pmoh yeah...the F-Elna i just got for RM1 /pc This post has been edited by Monkey King: Nov 12 2008, 11:32 PM |

Yeah. Quality/reliability are the main issues with our local suppliers.. So far I have been lucky
However I do have Vishay/ERO 2.2 uF caps which I will use before the F-ELNA starts to deterioriates.. That is after I have finish the on going projects associated with the T-Amp.. Do you mind sharing if it's T-Amp related? |

Dybre,
If you were to do a little bit of reading the question will be unnecessary! You do not owned an Aego M no? Aego M is a powered speaker system. It has it's own amplifier therefore no external amplifier is required to drive it. Comprende?! QUOTE(Dybre @ Nov 13 2008, 03:23 AM) |

xtorm,
just a suggestion. in the new version 2 thread(you better start soon!), maybe you should compile an FAQ to avoid this unnecessary 'not so clever' questions.. Is it general consensus that the Vishay 2.2uF is at the top of the list as replacement for the input caps?
Guys, I guess I can understand a bit of Dybre's confusion. This thread is too long! Even for me, it's hard going back through the 130 pages to pick up the relevant points. I'm eagerly waiting for xtorm to move to V2, with a nice summary of all the important stuff as the first thread. |

bro March,
I'd say it is but then again it is all depends on your personal preferences and what equipments you are having and driving I have great success with 10uF EPCOS in my system although when driving your HB during the first TT Session, not much 'impact' was heard.. A 2.2 uF would be a starting figure and if you could afford it, experiment with the different electrolytics/dielectrics then the play around with the capacitance for 'fine tuning' Yeah.. a 130 pages is wayyyy far too long! I’d say this thread is very alive.
A quick update from my end here: Since I have 2 T-amps but only 1 computer-notebook-style SMPS, I need to get another and had originally wanted to spend only RM33 for a similar unit. However, Lai convinced and bought for me a Meanwell S-50-12 SMPS instead. The difference in sonic quality is very substantial and the additional RM22 spent is well-worth. Coincidentally, size (width and depth) of the Meanwell SMPS is identical to casing of my 1st T-amp and looks very much a dedicated external PSU specially made for my T-amp. Looks like it is!
So you're using the same SMPS that I am using, right? Excellent piece of hardware with 4.2A ready on tap! Good work Lai! I agree, as if the SMPS and the T-Amp was meant for each other! Like the pix bro.. any close up shots? Anyway, I found a super duper CD mechanism that is now a CD transport feeding my pre-amp buffer, T-Amp via a DAC. So far, results has been encouraging. Will reveal more pending final audition and conclusion. Super duper here means it's 'dirt cheap' and GOOD! QUOTE(Y.C. @ Nov 13 2008, 11:08 AM) I’d say this thread is very alive.
