After upgrading my iPhone this morning, i notice one big disadvantages is the fact that whenever i type to sms, the respons is kinda slow. Is it because of RAM,or not enough space or it is just problem with 2.0.1 firmware

From my experience, turning off the keyboard clicks can speed up the typing. Thats only from my observation, dunno about others.

p/s - i also observe that when we open google maps and its in 'find location' mode, it will update the location as we move, something like a 'crippled' GPS (only on 1st gen iPhone).

Yep...having the same issue here. Sms typing has a lag and also takes time to load a contact into the 'to' field.
Sometimes the contacts scroll lags.

Sometimes it feels 1.1.4 was just better and should have waited another 3 weeks or so before getting to 2.0.1 rclxub.gif

To those finding that their overall performance lags 2.0.1, try this. It may or may not work.

Go into "General" and "Reset Network Setting" . Turn off your iPhone and turn it on again, and re-enter your settings back again. See if there are any differences if you turn the "Enable 3G" button to ON or off. If they are the same, then leave it ON, then "Reset All Settings" . This will return it to factory default, but without the need to re-unlock it again, I believe. Restart your iPhone and see if there are any differences. Re-enter all your settings again.

I believe this lag is contributed by the latency of the current connection present. That would either include EDGE, 3G or Wifi. I have no lag problems while I'm on a hotspot, or a stable 3G environment, but once the radios are heavily searching for connection, (denoted by the circular rotation thingy at top right), everything slows down to a crawl, and typing an SMS lags like hell. The iPhone with 2.0 I believe is designed to be an always-on-connection device and the extra resources dedicated to keeping that connection open may be the culprit for this lag.

For the record, I post responses on LYN while I'm on the bus, with it moving around its route. This is when it lags down the most as it struggles to keep the 3G connection active. On EDGE, since DiGi's EDGE coverage are more widespread and stable, I face less complications like this. I face zero lag while posting from Starbucks' Timezone.

Your mileage may vary, but that is how I see it on mine. Until we get a more stable connection with 3G coverage in compliance with Apple's 3G standards on the iPhone 3G, this lag may still ensue even after firmware updates.

im not sure where the wrong part, but as far as im on 2.0.1, everything seems smooth compared to 2.0
the touch screen response well, typing sms faster than 2.0. while surfing, sometimes got lagg abit but still considerable
in gaming, no problem, loading much faster. cut long story, it as good as 1.1.4

what method dya use to cook the firmware??

The lag is not often, sometimes only and now i've disabled features like "Push" in fetch new data and location services.
Also to be noted is to switch off SSH because seeking for signals also slows down the unit.
Anyway after a quick reboot, the phone resumes normal speed. Another factor would be battery charge. I think it's logic enough to say that if the
battery is running low, your system performance will be compromised. This happens with most battery-loaded electronic devices. Good examples are laptops.

I used Winpwn 2.0.0.4 to customize the firmware.

yep, and locate where you store the custom made file, make sure you get your Iphone into the "RIGHT" DFU mode...not restore mode.
