So far the 2.0.1 is serving the same 2.0 features except for better performance in typing and scrolling? Gonna update this weekend.

so, u already with us in 2.0.1 clan?

Yes, 2.0.1 is finally stable and faster than before. However, I still need to do a full restore sometime tomorrow as I still likes the feel of having a brand new restored firmware. Catch my drift? tongue.gif

gengstapo, of course... backup has already been made long before, infact my backups are little such as contacts & medias. Btw, has anyone here tried the Erase iPhone before? It took an hour. So after the erasing process, do I have to neuter my phone again?

i think from the settings/general/reset.... I never use those except for reset networks settings.... I rather restore rather than do a full reset

hohoo.. same here, i havent even single use the reset function
i rather restore new clean firmware

Actually in previous firmware before 2.0, you can Erase All Content and Reset All Settings but that won't clean out the leftover blocks in the memory. So in this new firmware 2.0, you can wipe clean all data to left it unrecovered even by the most powerful recovery data software. This feature is useful if you were to sell your phone. I did it, it's good and it's refreshing!

Added on August 15, 2008, 12:36 pmEven a newly restored phone won't clean the old data so it can still be recovered.

How come? what sort of data?

Your text messages, calendar events, notes, bookmarks, and other sorts of data.

iClarified set the partition to 512MB while Sleepers.net set the partition to 550MB. Which is better?

I'll go with Bigboss 550MB.

I did checked that everytime i did a firmware restore, none of my data's are there. I think partly is because i set the phone as new. Then i just resync back my contents.

The point is to securely erase it rather than just skipping the old data, your old data can still be retrace even you restore your phone as new for many times.

i set to 500mb only... ada problem o not?
*
Should be okay I guess, at least above 500MB.

Somehow I have problem syncing 800 songs at once, at 679 all of the sudden iTunes said that can't read or write to iPhone.

Btw, what's the point for adjusting the root partition?

Did you follow all the instructions carefully? You gotta be alert that even something small that has not been done will get you in trouble with error 16xx.

Guess what guys, 2.0.1 does lag at times while typing thou (SMS.app). I don't know how could that happen but I think reboot my do the job well.

Any of you here using the Ambient Light Sensor feature? It works great but does need some getting use to as the brightness is according to your room light.

Sometimes it will auto reboot and causes network glitch. Now can't wait for 2.1.
