No, because huawei modem is got a file-write protection, where you can't put a files inside the modem. So, there's no chance for virus to enter the modem. smile.gif
No need to. I still connecting to the internet even during heavy rain with heavy lightning, because the transmission is doing wirelessly. For streamyx, it's heavily recommended to disconnect and unplug the cable biggrin.gif

Thnx for the information. biggrin.gif

ok i am total noob at this so please be gentle smile.gif

i am looking around for an alternative to streamyx seeing that they don't have enough ports for my area in penang. i find the plans very confusing. i am thinking of getting broadband advance package (RM 98 per month). does it come with the wireless modem? will i be able to get it to work on my imac and ibook? what are the actual speeds like? good enough for torrents?

i am already a celcom postpaid user. does that give me any benefits? thanks.

Nowaday download speed is always between 3-7KB/s, it take a whole full day to complete download the file > 150 mb and this happen only when the connection is keep on receiving. The worst can be download only example 30mb or not even 1/2 of the total file size it stop downloading but check the connection is still connected. Experienced this many time. haih...... sad.gif

Do you think that your speed got capped? hmm.gif
When my speed got capped last time, I hardly achieved 10kB/s. hmm.gif

Anyway, not trying to spoil your mood. My speed is still good. biggrin.gif
Maybe you need to try my method, keep changing the IP address until you get a set of different IP address.

im using celcom d68 at KLCC area everyday (at my office), and Sg. Buloh area (at my home).. at Sg Buloh the speed is soo.. good.. but at KLCC, the speed quite terrible recently..

i has made a complaint via email to Celcom yesterday, still didn't receive any respon yet.. perhaps within few days they will reply (just like my previous complain through email).

hye , can i ask some questions ?

i wanna buy celcom broadband package, but the problem is , everytime i try connecting celcom modem(my frens'), that thing connected just for a while, then it dc again.. means that my comp detects it only a few secs.

i thought the problem came from my usb port, but i have no prob when using external hdd or pendrive etc.

what should i do?

Mind telling us the OS you're using and the model of the modem? smile.gif Sometimes it may relates to the driver incompatibility on certain OS

I not think so is because the speed has been capped. Yup, may be try to connect & disconnect try to change the IP address see any improvement.

maybe u has bad experience before, but for me, i made few complaint via email before and they respon within few days, then they will try to solve it and keep informing me the update.

i still remember my first complain via email, about weak signal at my house.. they reply to my complain, then the tech team contact me few times and few month later they installed new BTS.

my second complain also via email, about my gprs account (postpaid) that cannot be use, supposely all postpaid line should had gprs activated automatically. they response to my complain and told me that something wrong with the sytem, after reseting my postpaid account problem solved.

and my last complain about no 3G at my campus area (UKM bangi), they had response within a week, told me my complaint has been fowarded to the related department.. few weeks later they inform me that they will propose to install 3G in my campus, the proposal approved within one month.. and new 3G installed in last july 2008.

so, different people experiencing different thing..
