you shouldn't be using UQD as ur clay lubricant...too expensive and no advantages...Diluted nxt shampoo will do just fine...

When you use your NXT Tech Wax, how long did you wait before you buffer off the wax, or was it apply and wipe off immediately?

Did you also allow for "cure" time for the wax?

nxt covers the water marks. after a few weeks then it will appear again. You can try Ultimate Compound (UC) to cure the water mark.
Water marks are oxidations/stains, in other words they are below surface contaminants and cannot be removed by just claying. Claying only removes the above surface stubborn dirts and smoothen the surface for easier surface prep, also helps the wax to bond evenly and strongly to your clear coat.

Using UQD for claying will bring up the shine better because your paint can absorbs its "Nutrients" better. Alternately you can try Gold Class diluted wash for claying or NXT is also fine.

Added on March 10, 2011, 5:45 pmTCHTAX, probably about 30 to 40 mins for the wax to dry. U can do a finger test by running your clean and dry finger on the waxed area, if the finger trail line appears to be hazy, meaning that it is not dry yet, if it appears to be clear paint, then you are ready to buff it off. However, the wax polymers will take up to 10 - 12 hours to fully bond to your paint. so try prevent your paint to kena water within that period of time. =) hope this helps.

Wow ...learnt something here. Would mean Ultimate Compound would remove a very thin (and I mean very very thin) layer of the clear coat ?

it will, but only a thin thin layer. not even 1/10 of a micron. typically, our clear coat is about 8 microns thick, sanding process itself will take off about 1 or 1.5 microns. so UC is still considered as clear coat safe.

Added on March 10, 2011, 5:52 pmfrom what i know that UC also works as "MAGNET THEORY" that "attracts" the stains out chemically. im not even good with scientific terms, so i dont know the chemical term. =)

NXT doesnt have polishing/abrasive compound.. there's no way it can hide/correct any form of water mark.. no wax / sealant can do this, not even collinites, or swissvax..

If u wanna know whether ur car still has water mark after waxing.. park outside a night.. next morning with all the dew on the paint, use a yellowish light to look at the paint slanted, u will see that there's circle of dew around...

NXT has filler to fill in minor scratchs n swirls..

Degreaser+hyperdressing will do the job..
no need to cover up any parts eh?assuming those fuse, wire joint are sealed properly..unless the car is like in the 80's..i juz spray my avanza directly w/o even covering the batt connector.

Also there's no point layering NXt as they have cleaning properties so you're essentially removing the first layer if you're layering it. Get a pure wax if you want to layer.

Just use multi purpose detergent. That should be more than enough.

can layer, but to ensure even coverage as the cleaning properties are not that strong to remove whole first layer..

but not on the point of enhancing durability. smile.gif

Depends on how deep or set the water marks are. Start with mild polish.

Clean old wax - Meguiars Cleaner wax Liquid or Duragloss #652 or any other mild polish. If have swirls, then I would use Meguiars Swirl X. Many many choices.

Other sifus here may have their opinions.

hi,

have been using the the Meguiar Gold Class wax and it is finishing soon....the Gold Class doesnt really fill up the swirl marks so i plan to change to another wax soon...

for my next purchase, i plan to get the Meguiar 205 compound, Ultimate Paste Wax and Meguiar M21 sealant to top it up.....

what do you guys think about the M#21 sealant?....from the review, it does wonder to swirl marks and it can last quite long.....

Anyone knows where to purchase all these 3 items?...i hope to purchase the 64oz bottle but i dont seem to be able to find these items locally...sad.gif
