Cendol & ABC - 88, Jalan Hang Jebat (Jonker Street), Malacca Popiah - Jalan Bunga Raya (just in front of Mdm King supermarket) Peranakan food - Peranakan Restaurant ,107, Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, Melaka
Popular vegetarian stuff kinda hard to recommend but there's a shop in Bukit Beruang which i kinda like but its located away from town.
What is interesting in Melaka......Jonker street is a good place to go at night. Other than that, you can just bring him/her to visit the historical place at the clock tower.

I was looking for hotel in melaka. Which one would be better? in term of cleanliness, comfort and services.
Yellow Mansion hotel or Fenix Inn Hotel.
Cant find any info about this yellow mansion hotel anyway except their website.

Yellow Mansion use old story building for the hotel. Some more, fenix Inn located in town and walking distances to all major shopping complexes and historical site. few budget hotels that is good... fenix inn queenspark hotel melia horizon all these located in melaka raya. go to www.malaysiabudgethotel.com i believe that there is few budget hotel for you to choose... ;-) melaka budget hotel is mushrooming now...one open another to cater the tourists...

you can try Hotel Puri. it's located in Jln Tun Tan Cheng Lock, just behind jonker street.
try foogle the name. they have a website.

I will suggest you all to try out fenix too. Clean and can take water from the filtered machine (cold & hot). It is also within walking distant, opp dataran pahlawan.Got 1 tai chow behind it, operates until late midnight.

I'm planning a trip to Melaka this coming christmas holiday..appreciate u guys (especially who has been to melaka) to tell me; 1. nice budget hotel (my budget around RM80-rm100/night  ) 2. nice food..I'm muslim btw, so advice only halal food..  I read in other thread about satay celup & chicken rice ball..sound good, is it halal? 3. current attraction in melaka.. Your help would be much appreciated... thanks..

aldy hotel is not bad..n kinda cheap.. or bayview try find online can get RM100 a night.. but must book early lar
Added on December 1, 2008, 4:30 pmas for food..of course jonker street.... laksa, cendol~!! chicken rice ball (not sure halal or not) sate celup.. nyonya food ..
