I just blogged about my foodie trip to malacca.

I highly recommend Cottage Spice near Dataran Pahlawan for delicious Nyonya food and Joan's for Portoguese food at the Portguese Settlement.

Ravenz,

I recommend Joan's (stall no 2) at the Portuguese Settlement, the devil curry and the portuguese baked fish was really good!

While for Baba Nyonya food you can check out Cottage Spices

Ah man thinking about the food there is making me hungry sad.gif

I"m going to Malacca this weekend. Can anyone recommend which is a good stall to try out at the Portuguese Settlement? The last I tried was at Joan's stall I think. Any recommendations please?

plan to go to malacca next month, would like to ask u guys, whether the valet parking in fenix inn is reliable?
can we park our car on our own and keep the car keys by ourself?

I stayed in Fenix Inn the last time, you can park it on your own but you'll have to give the keys to them. Its relatively safe.

Ok let me see if I can find some good portuguese food when I'm there. The stall we went to the last time wasn't too bad and cheap too.

Hey guys, just got back from my makan makan trip yesterday. We stayed at Hotel Trend, just 2 minutes walk to the mall. Only paid RM68 for the standard room and it’s only recommended if you’re not fussy coz it’s a budget hotel therefore not the most comfie hotel around.

We went to Jonker Street for chicken rice ball and cendol at Famosa. Wanted to try the other more popular shops but the line was massive and it was just too hot to line up for food!

Then for dinner we went to the portugese settlement. Atlhough they were mixed reviews on Sea Terrace (Stall No 1), our meal was really good! Ordered the baked fish, fried sotong, sweet and sour crabs, kangkong belacan and devil’s curry from another shop. The seafood was really really fresh and tasty!! And we only paid RM100 for it. The only turn off was how the shop owners hounded us to visit their stall. They literally circled us like a bunch of vulchers.

The next day we went to Spice Cottage for some Baba Nyonya food. Again the food was soooo yummy! Maybe a bit spicy for most people but we loved it. Highly recommended place.

Aiyaa but you haven't tried it lately right? Infact their stall was the most packed for the night. And they were the only ones who didn't bother pesterieng us to visit their stall. Guess its a personal choice. Food was definitely fresh, good and value for money. I'm not saying it's the best I"ve had la.

Nobody list Malacca's famous Tandori chicken and nan bread at kota laksamana ? What a shame.

Oh gosh I saw that on a write up in The Star. Wanted to check it out but couldn't recall the place. Where is it located though?

Thanks, will definitely look out for this place next time - I heard it's suppose to be the best in Malaysia

Just want to say that the famous food listing in first page is really questionable. Seems like not compiled by Malaccans  smile.gif

Well I pressume you're from Malacca? Could you please recommend which stall to go to in the Portugese Settlement or any other restaurants that serve good portuguese food? Thanks!
