Thanks mokhzaini, but i prefer to have it in a restaurant as it is more formal and it gives better atmoshere. Summore it is safer... But thank you for your suggestion!

Thank you to everyone that helped! Restaurant by the beach is something i have initially thought! BTW raist86, is Riviera Bay resort near Malacca town?

Its ok.. forgot about uncle google.. blush.gif I found the map. Thanks

forget about sampan. the place is not nice anymore, especially after they've reclaimed the land. Food sucks.

Try the italian restaurant at Riviera Bay resort. Highly recommended. Food's good and really intimate atmosphere. Usually quite quiet. Go earlier before the pub crowd comes in.

The restaurant is outside the resort by the beach. U need to enter the lobby, exit to the swimming pool area, walk down to the beach stairs. The restaurant is hidden downstairs there. Good view of the sand while having dinner. You can request them to set up a candlelight table for you ( i did that during valentines).

Yes yes. Wow. so many people know about that restaurant ehh. The Italian Restaurant is highly recomended Its really just in front of the BEACH!!. got swimming pool there also. Got a lot people pak tor there at night. ermm. i mean the Visitors lahh. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Best in Melaka!! nod.gif nod.gif

Anyway, if anyone wants to stay at Riviera Bay Resort . Please View my Thread!! 80% OFF ROOM RATES. Thanks! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

NOTE : ACTUALLY RIVIERA BAY RESORT CHANGE MANAGEMENT ALREADY. ITS NOW RUN BY A SINGAPOREAN

NOW ITS CALLED EVERLY RESORT HOTEL. FOR YOUR INFO!!

interesting thread... after going so many times to Melaka, i never knew there are romantic places there...

but Hotel wise, i'll recommend Holiday Inn, new and ask for the one facing the lake/sea smile.gif
pricey though... cost me RM300nett per night on a weekend...

just went there last week.

tried:

-baba laksa and nyonya laksa in Jonker street
baba taste like curry, nyonya taste like asam laksa. both with tuna. baba is great, not like normal curry laksa while nyonya laksa is sour.
4/5

-chicken rice ball. corner of Jonker street
rice is nice, i ate 8 of it. haha.. but my friends dun really like it. chicken is ok
3.5/5

-satay celup. bee chan heong/ man li heong? forgot the name.
ok ok only. just like lok lok lo. u celup what ever u want inside the kacang sauce.
i found it very dirty. cuz they dun change the sauce after each customer. they just top up. customer tend to celup again after gigit 1 bite.
taste also normal. famous but not the best. i prefer traditional lukluk.
2.5/5

Not all the sate Celup in Melaka are nice. Not sure where is the locationj of the two u mentioned.. There are only 2 famous Satay Celup in Melaka i.e:

1) Capitol (At Banda Kaba)
2) Ban Lee Siang? - (Jln Ong Kim Wee)

Others so-so only & the pricing of this unique (Although looks dirty for some) is much cheaper than crazy lok-lok pricing in KL!

They even opened 1 in Mahkota Parade (Closed down) & another one in Cheras KL but failed too!

The famous & nice one and voted as one o fthe top 3 Chicken rice in Malaysia by MIX FM long time ago is Chung Wah at the corner lot shop facing Stathuy buiding.. biggrin.gif

For Ikan Bakar Umbai, just go to old Umbai and straight to the end of the road. Thats the best Ikan Bakar there. For the roti John you have mention, yes they still operating. Barkat Roti John and Ayam Golek. I will updating the GPS position soon.

cendol- Jln Tengkera, under a big old tree beside a field. its on your right if u go from the town. (food here not very good, cendol is superb!)

Fried Carrot Cake - also Jln Tengkera. by the roadside. only can tapau.

Fried Mamak Noodles. - also Jln Tengkera, between the carrot cake stall and cendol

Duck Mee - Bkt Beruang. corner shop. next to a photo shop and a clinic.

Satay Celup is a big NO NO for me. sigh.. no offence to mlk people. but i see locals bite and CELUP BACK into the sauce! and they never wash the pots. they recycle the satay sticks! sigh...
