That Sotong Kankung & Kerang, I went there last weekend & snapped few photos to add-in to malfreemaps only. blush.gif I din eat. 1st as u said full of ppl, 2ndly...that place actually not hygenic..imagine operating from backlane...but It does brings back my old memory I last visited ~30yrs ago, when Cap[itol cinema is still functioning..now in ruin & that backlane was a kerang lane full of shells & u can't even see the road! + the famous low chair...still remind me of Hanoi Vietnam... smile.gif

Ravenz,

I recommend Joan's (stall no 2) at the Portuguese Settlement, the devil curry and the portuguese baked fish was really good!

While for Baba Nyonya food you can check out Cottage Spices

Ah man thinking about the food there is making me hungry  sad.gif

Just back from Malacca.

Luckily I remember this post.
Really crazy things happen once you step out of your car in this Portugeuse Settlement.
Everyone is rushing to tell you their shop number. sweat.gif
I heard number 5, 88 and 2.

You have to decide a number so that they will stop harassing you. rolleyes.gif

Nothing in westcoast beaches good..All muddy except a better one near Langkawi & also Pangkor...For better becahes, go for East coast islands of Redang, perhentian & Tioman. You wioll not step into PD/Melaka beaches once u experience east coast!

Actually nothing to worry about.
Because I didn't expect this and took a long time to decide.
There are actually a few agents from one stall will be around you.

But once you decide, everyone will leave you in peace. biggrin.gif
I went to no. 2. Tried the devil curry (RM12) and the portuguese baked fish terung (RM6) as mentioned by Cas.

Apart from the restaurant there, I don't think there is much happening stuff around that portuguese settlement. I went on Saturday night but there was nothing. No performance, no music. Was kinda disappointed because it was hard to find the place actually.

Yes it's serious..Pantai Klebang had been reclaimed..Actually it's good bcos the water really muddy. Pppl going to Malaka not going for the beach-lah..sumore it's far from maleka town..no point wasting time travelling 35km to Tg Bidara or another 40-50km to Pengkalan Balak/Kuala Sg Baru when what u wanted is crystal clear water & not muddy sea water hmm.gif

Pantai klebang has been reclaimed..last time if you go to sampan bistro can sit right beside the sea,now its just a lalang field..tanjung bidara still exists but a lot of family ppl with their tiny kids running around wild and styrofoam cups plates, plastic bags and rubbish strewn all over the place.
Tanjung keling got oil refinery so thats out..try pantai puteri la..thats the only decent one around..planning a barbecue there soon.

I almost forgotten to post this exciting & long forgotten famous Melaka Laksa in the 1980 but thereafter once the newer Donald & Lily & Museum Cafe became so famous, this tiny old Laksa seller forgotten by ppl. & Tourist know nothing on this one. Can't help it as it's located inside an unnamed kopitiam at Lorong Bukit Cina.. blush.gif

Introducing Laksa Lim...Too bad during my visit, The Old Uncle Lim retired, & the laksa stall now operated by a young man who inherited Uncle Lim recipe...He reluctant to be associated to Laksa Lim but I bet you his Laksa is exactly the same as Laksa Lim....Creamy santan & less oily than those red oily curry laksa in KL & Penang....That's one reason why I ban from eating any curry laksa in KL or in penang (Me allergic liao!!)

The laksa..is much better than the overatted Donald& Lily & also the 88 museum cafe..The best I tatsed in melaka but forgotten my newer generation...I'm not sure any more such nice laksa in new sub-urban of Malacca hmm.gif

The laksa stall under the big umbrella (Laksa Lim engraving no more as taken over by the young guy)
user posted image

The superb laksa....(Southern laksa..)..See what I mean less oily & more santan than KL/Penang version
