QUOTE(lowyat101 @ Mar 13 2023, 10:08 AM) Currently toying between these 2 models, can't made up my mind yet. I have listed out the + and - points based on my observation for each of them: for #1 just buy Midea instead the brand is stepkid to midea liao, doesn't last, see the lazada reviews removable ice box is good for me because its a serious waste of space in the already-small freezer (unless you don't buy much frozen stuff) This post has been edited by ceo684: Mar 13 2023, 01:49 PM

Yes old time Toshiba electronics lasts 30 years, even the washing machine never die just the iron carcass rotted.. However I bought one used for 4 years, I didn't even get to use it for 2 more years, it died before its 6th birthday (not cold) and declared BER (cost me rm400 for a ~1400 bucks 350L size GR-35MD)

Many non inverter just need to replace the compressor relay (whatever they called the black thing).

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Nov 12 2022, 11:59 PM) Well, I went against the flow and ordered a Hisense RQ568N4AWU from Onking for RM2,399. Their shop wont match the price offered online saying different department. My cousin intro me Haier IM525 but cost RM3k. I'm gonna give it a try and see how it fares after a couple of years. I dont cook much thus only using it to store cakes, drinks, milk, ice-cream and also nuggets etc. Anyway, fridges looks almost the same across the board, it's hard to choose. I did shortlist a few namely Sharp and Hitachi 4 doors, both also around RM3k (Sharp got offer price since SIL work there). Was interested with the Hitachi because my mom 4 doors from 7 or 8 years ago still working fine and consume just 2.5kwh/day but saw a fella posted this freezer (I shortlisted) have ice buildup so gave up. Sharp also taken over by Foxconn. I also tried to google about different compressor and found out that Hitachi already transfer their compressor factory in Thai to Midea in 2020 while Panasonic closed down its compressor factory in Singapore and now makes them in Melaka. I think judging from the similarities with all these fridge, chances are many of them are OEM now. Can't believe the price has increased about 300-500MYR for RQ568N4AWU. Am getting this for the size & layout.

Hello, anyone ever used LG before? Any thought on this model GC-B257SLVL? Seems like the best bang for buck for its size and class.
Also, the metal cooling thing that the new refrigerators have nowadays, does it make a lot of difference in energy saving?

Not sure about metal cooling, tapi bila compare with inverter (LG) and non-inverter (Samsung), memang banyak beza in terms of power consumption. Its been awhile, but if I remember correctly, LG was about 200W and Samsung was consuming about 700W in average. Hope that helps This post has been edited by Maknusia: Apr 8 2023, 11:46 AM

You need to understand how fridge works. Initial cooling will went through freezer area before going into fridge part. Old fridge cool mainly with air from freezer. I guess once you open the door, the cool air escape and the whole cooling process begin again. My guess is that by using a small piece of metal, they are able to cool the air faster since metal is a better conductor than air, also partly also because metal dont lose it's cold instantly like cool air escaping the fridge whenever it is opened. As long as it is an inverter fridge, the power savings will be there. Stuffs like metal cooling merely increase the cooling efficiency higher to achieve the final few percentage. My old fridge without inverter draws up 3.5kwh per day before I ditched it (meter change). Inverter fridge draws less than 1.5kwh per day. This post has been edited by andrekua2: Apr 8 2023, 12:26 PM
