wah lauuuu! finally 8.7 arrived. i'm getting my 4870! xD

anyone tried the driveR? I heard ppl saying it suck so bad compared to 8.7 beta.

I don't think that's the reason. XBOX360 and WII is also full of piraty stuff. It's development cost and ROI that pushes developer to go for console.

no, xbox360 piracy is LESS compared to pc. And ppl cant play on live without original game and the banhammer on live is a point y piracy arent so great in 360.

You are bottlenecked by your CPU. Your E6400 only 2133Mhz? I'm sure can O/C further. I run my FSB at 350Mhz, CPU @ 350 X 8 =2.8Ghz (E4500 only)...and a 4850 (650/1000) with 2GB can get 11+++ in 3DMark06. Very mild O/C with stock cooler, and slight voltage increase in CPU core.

Increasing FSB does a lot more than CPU speed. Try to get as high FSB as you can get. It's very easy to O/C a C2D and the benefits are very substantial.

I no oc my pc hardware, coz my pc are on most of the times. I know my cpu is bottlenecking, got plan to change it long time ago but now waiting for nahalem.

I don't play 3dmark2006 anyway... thx for advise! will bench again to see the different.. when I upgrade my cpu.

Finally...got the first official drivers for 4xxx series...will try tonight.

wanna check with anyone using RBE to flash thier BIOS.
after flashing the BIOS. can u still use CCC for OC
or is better off to OC with AMDGPUTOOLS?

AMD GPU tools sorta screw up my CCC previously, including the fanspeed fix thingy. I think it's better to stick with CCC.

What is RBE? Is there any new VGA BIOS to download? For all brands?

can this new CCC 8.7 control the fan speed without edit the profile?
because sometimes it wont using the fan speed i set in the profile one duno what happen =.=

or there is another software like ATI Tool to control the fan speed one? but have to wait for the new version?

Clean your driver out...do a fresh installation...create a profile...edit your desired fan settings...fire up your profile. Works for me

Regarding this fan speed thingy, i've got a question. It works in VISTA but cannot work in XP. The problem is, even though i saved the profile, i can't find it anywhere in the ATI folder! I've already enabled hidden file viewing and searched the whole drive but can't find it. So now if i boot into XP, my GPU will be at 80C when idle....

THE PAIN JUST KEEPS coming for Nvidia, this time in the partner space. Two of their key 'alpha' partners have just defected.

It is nearly impossible to make money selling Nvidia cards right now, NV squeezed partners margins too much, and when the going got rough, prioritised its own margins over partner survival. This gave partners the choice of popping like a zit financially or moving to less green pastures.

Like Gainward before them, two of the largest ones, XFX and EVGA have defected. Want to bet Nvidia doesn't know yet? In any case, partners leaving a company like rats leaving a sinking ship is never a good sign, lets see what happens in the coming months when the pain really piles on at NV.

The really interesting part is who they defected to, and it isn't ATI. Paperwork has been signed though, and it is a done deal.

Like we said it is going to be an interesting summer.

I wouldn't bet so much with news from the Inquirer...somemore they're not defecting to ATI? Defect to who then? Intel? And sell integrated GMA GPUs??

But i do heard that some Nvidia partners are on the verge of bankrupt recently due to Nvidia overpriced cards. So it's not suprising they defect. But i still bet it's ATI they defect to.

i plan to get a 3rd party cooler to replace the stock one as the temp can go up to 90deg while gaming...any recommendations? the acceleroS1 looks interesting to me...
