QUOTE(AMDAthlon @ Jul 19 2008, 10:43 PM) For?HD 4850?I didnt hear yet.But i am waiting for GDDR5 for HD4850 instead Dun think that'll happen. The only difference between 4850 and 4870 is the RAM. If they put GDDR5 on 4850, it'll kill the 4870 market. Added on July 20, 2008, 10:36 amQUOTE(OmniAtlas @ Jul 19 2008, 11:42 PM) BTW, have any of you guys tried installing Mac OS X (hackintosh?)? Is there driver support for the ATI on mac os? It'll work, but only basic VGA, meaning 1024 x768 resolution only with no QE/CI functionality. It automatically detects as plain VGA after i swapped out my old 7600GS. This post has been edited by Matrix: Jul 20 2008, 10:36 AM

QUOTE(hengmy @ Jul 21 2008, 03:56 AM) yep, nowadays the GC on market still do not fully utilize the bandwith offered by pcie2.0, maybe next gen GC will required more demand on bandwith, when come to CF, x8 might not able to cope with it anymore There's really no point in utilizing the PCI-E bandwidth to the fullest UNLESS you play at max resolution and need more RAM than the GPU can handle and thus need to swap to system RAM. No amount of bandwidth will be as fast as local memory (Video RAM). As each generation of cards come with bigger memory, there's really no need to utilize the PCIE bandwidth fully. It'll only be use for transfering data and instructions which is not a lot. It's the textures that eats memory the most. Added on July 21, 2008, 9:04 amQUOTE(danieljoey @ Jul 21 2008, 12:36 AM) Its true theres not much difference.. But got abit la.. Coz my 3dmark06 mark is lower on pcie 1.1 and higher on 2.0 about 500marks higher As someone said b4, benchmark do not reflect actual games. Benchmark are made to saturate certain aspect of hardware in each tests. I think there was some test done by Tom's hardware or Anandtech where it shows even at PCIe 1.1 4x and 8x, there's no difference. This post has been edited by Matrix: Jul 21 2008, 09:04 AM

Wanna ask. Anybody has use the HDMI output of the 4850/4870? I understand it has built in sound...something like Realtek codec built in? How setup this? There seems very little info on this. I'm thinking of connecting my PC to LCD TV and play some games with it. btw, there is no official drivers for 4000 series yet...even at AMD website. Sapphire also don't have.... http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/support/drivers.phpReal joke lar....

QUOTE(casperito @ Jul 21 2008, 02:16 PM) the driver cds that comes with the card has the HD audio driver... i think that shudn't be a problem... Think i'll try tonight. The Sapphire card really cheapskate one, manual pun tadak.(that piece of card inside the box is not very useful)..i guess that's the price you pay for a top brand like Gigabyte and an economical one like Sapphire. I've downloaded the manual from Gigabyte's website for their 4850 card. Looks like there's a 'ATI Realtek audio' which can be selected from the control panel. Must give it a go tonite. Cheers.

About the HDMI sound on the 4850 card, here's the screen shot: Looks like it's already detected the sound output via HDMI and you can even enable DD51/DTS passthrough to the receiver. But all i want is the sound to come out on the LCD TV via the stereo channel.....must try later...maybe on weekend...too lazy to drag my PC over to the TV now.... QUOTE(Archaven @ Jul 22 2008, 01:05 AM) Well reason why PC gaming is dying and developers are moving to consoles because pirates are killing them. I don't think that's the reason. XBOX360 and WII is also full of piraty stuff. It's development cost and ROI that pushes developer to go for console.

QUOTE(juine @ Jul 22 2008, 12:46 AM) www.. my humble score.. www no tweak no whatever shit.. as long games are playable I'm happy : D for your references only 3dmark06 - ati hd4870 - 9604 www - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=7538595old one 3dmark06 - nvidia 9600gt - 8778 ww - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=61591423dmark05 - ati x1900xt - 10599 w - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=2223867I got more old one, just incase if you people want... hehe. I play abit of Crysis and Bioshock just now.. everything at high and 1680x1050 no aa damn song.. seriously.. I hope to enjoy more games like Crysis in different genre... which push the pc to the limit. don't you people think PC gaming are dying? come come go go just that few title.. yet our gfx card are getting more meaner and bigger horsepower but it's a shame didn't put it into a good use. I seriously hope.. more and more pc games can really gauge with all these card. You are bottlenecked by your CPU. Your E6400 only 2133Mhz? I'm sure can O/C further. I run my FSB at 350Mhz, CPU @ 350 X 8 =2.8Ghz (E4500 only)...and a 4850 (650/1000) with 2GB can get 11+++ in 3DMark06. Very mild O/C with stock cooler, and slight voltage increase in CPU core. Increasing FSB does a lot more than CPU speed. Try to get as high FSB as you can get. It's very easy to O/C a C2D and the benefits are very substantial. Added on July 22, 2008, 9:07 amQUOTE(ben3003 @ Jul 22 2008, 09:01 AM) no, xbox360 piracy is LESS compared to pc. And ppl cant play on live without original game and the banhammer on live is a point y piracy arent so great in 360. Maybe...but i dun care about online games. QUOTE(daze @ Jul 22 2008, 10:22 AM) wanna check with anyone using RBE to flash thier BIOS. after flashing the BIOS. can u still use CCC for OC or is better off to OC with AMDGPUTOOLS? AMD GPU tools sorta screw up my CCC previously, including the fanspeed fix thingy. I think it's better to stick with CCC. What is RBE? Is there any new VGA BIOS to download? For all brands? QUOTE(chlkaka @ Jul 22 2008, 10:51 AM) can this new CCC 8.7 control the fan speed without edit the profile? because sometimes it wont using the fan speed i set in the profile one duno what happen =.= or there is another software like ATI Tool to control the fan speed one? but have to wait for the new version? Regarding this fan speed thingy, i've got a question. It works in VISTA but cannot work in XP. The problem is, even though i saved the profile, i can't find it anywhere in the ATI folder! I've already enabled hidden file viewing and searched the whole drive but can't find it. So now if i boot into XP, my GPU will be at 80C when idle....

I wouldn't bet so much with news from the Inquirer...somemore they're not defecting to ATI? Defect to who then? Intel? And sell integrated GMA GPUs?? But i do heard that some Nvidia partners are on the verge of bankrupt recently due to Nvidia overpriced cards. So it's not suprising they defect. But i still bet it's ATI they defect to.

QUOTE(kaiser_falco @ Jul 22 2008, 05:46 PM) hmmm this is where you wrong...sorry to say xbox 360 live is not piracy proof, lots of ppl playing in live using their backup and still havent got banned it just in the matter of pre caution... i own a 360 with a capabilities playing backup been playing in live now n then on it... well since most of my title for pc is original every now n then i still play my 360 just for the sake of fun...seriously i still prefer gaming on pc rather then a limited console and console graphic are... so if gaming on pc gonna come to the end i think those like ati n nvidia sure suffer a lot and including intel.. ya we still have the those designer and few other sector which required high end graphic but the its still being monopolyze by gamers, and i dont think pc gaming industries will come to the end anytime soon.. Not really. remember, PS3=Nvidia, XBOX360 & WII=ATI. Added on July 22, 2008, 7:46 pmI still dunno how to to use the RBE lah...everything blank and you have to fill it up? What if i fill in wrong value? scary... Added on July 22, 2008, 8:16 pmJust updated the 8.7 drivers...3D Mark 06 doesn't shows any improvement, still 11xxx points. Oh well, as long as it runs fine, don't bother. This post has been edited by Matrix: Jul 22 2008, 08:16 PM

QUOTE(owikh84 @ Jul 22 2008, 08:53 PM) I can answer ur question. [attachmentid=536649] Now u can change the fan speed with profile manager again. Yep, i've no problem changing the fan speed. VISTA and XP both works. Added on July 22, 2008, 9:17 pmQUOTE(samlee860407 @ Jul 22 2008, 08:21 PM) i update to 8.7 too then run 3dmark vantage, 8.7 score lower then 8.6 about 100 points 100 points difference is just sample errors. It doesn't mean anything unless you compare 10 tests in each version and see the average difference. This post has been edited by Matrix: Jul 22 2008, 09:17 PM

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jul 23 2008, 07:47 AM) True, my 6600gt agp running load at 95c, after 3-4 years, it is still working lolz. Yep, actually these sillicons can tahan very high degree of temperature. Otherwise, NVIDIA and ATI all bankrupt already if these chips cannot take the heat with massive failure rates. So no need waste money on extra cooler (and use extra space in an already cramp case that can barely fit the card already!). Even if 3 or 4 years down the road it failed, it's not worth anything already by that time...LOL. time to upgrade. Added on July 23, 2008, 9:22 amMore question on RBE: i've just realized i've to download the BIOS file and load it... So now i can see the info, but i get a message in the front page box saying "Warning: Power not connected...(or something like that)"...why is it saying that? I already connected the 6 pin PCIE to the card already, otherwise cannot use also...anyone can explain? This post has been edited by Matrix: Jul 23 2008, 09:22 AM

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jul 23 2008, 01:54 PM) yup, directx is on vista, u can see it from the last paragraph: As DirectX 10 runs only on Windows Vista, though, an operating system widely criticized for its stability problems and not particularly beloved by gamers, it remains to be seen whether DirectX 11 can increase the OS' penetration or whether Windows XP will remain the gaming operating system of choice. It means that will directx 11 save vista and increase its OS' penetration among gamers. Added on July 23, 2008, 1:54 pmBtw, it is coming early 2009. Nah it won't be that early. Read this: http://www.winvistaclub.com/i7.htmlIt'll still be a long way to go. Nothing wrong with VISTA, AFAIK, it's only when you run old apps that is not compatible then you'll have problem.

QUOTE(samlee860407 @ Jul 23 2008, 06:49 PM) 9181 for 4850 CF seems not that high wo....hmm.... I really cannot understand why people is so bother about benchmark scores...reformatting PC 10 times just to do some test...when you can have so much fun playing games and enjoying the REAL WORLD PERFORMANCE gain and mooping about some numbers to boost your e-ego. No offence. Just my 2 cents.
