There's alot of English-speaking companies you can Google in Japan.
Have a search on them.

I won't tell mine though biggrin.gif

It depends.

In the games industry, yes its true that most non-Japanese games companies speaks more English, depending on each department.
Marketing will definitely speaks dual language.
But for technical departments, most are English and Japanese mix.

Outside games industry, besides other jobs, the one industry I know that have English environment is that if you are an English language teacher.
And as everyone here knows, teaching English in Japan is a big industry with big Yen return, and if you are smart, you can do more on your own besides just in the school.

And that's why its a common knowledge here that not all American/Europeans that came here are working in top jobs.
Even as a simple English teacher, you can live a comfortable life in Tokyo biggrin.gif

working part time(baito) and getting a normal job are quite different. rates might be somewhat the same but bonuses and benefits really make the difference.

@tanoshi

i dont think part timing as an English teacher is worth it. true u get 1500yen an hour which is more than normal jobs at about 1000yen but the time spent on preparation and so on makes everything about the same

has anyone experienced any problems applying for visa?

i'm planning to visit Japan in January and the all-inclusive fares for MAS is very tempting. but i fear that my visa application will be rejected and i'll waste my flight and hotel bookings. i've visited their website and they said they need bank statements, employment letters, etc.

is it really that complicated?

Its just normal procedure to visit countries that requires visa.
And I don't think its complicated at all.
Go to bank, get bank statement.
Go to office, take employment letter.

As long as you have all the requirements AND you didn't commit any serious offense before, should be fine.
If you go to apply without enough requirements, instead of rejecting, they will just tell you to go back and come back later with full requirements nod.gif

now japanese embassy in Msia does not require confirmed flight ticket. you can apply first by stating your itenary using the template given at the japanese embassy website. I did called them last week since i'm taking the MAS offer for march. you do not need confirmed ticket and hotel booking now, but the proof of employment and statement is a must.

*Visa Application Requierment has been changed (28 Oct 2008)
Applicants are no longer required to submit confirmed flight itinerary issued by travel agent. Instead of that, applicants must submit tentative itinerary in Japan where they do not have to book for ticket. Please take note that tourist/business travelers who hold a short stay visa are required to show return ticket at the entry point. (Refer to the Remarks #6.)

Yup, flight itinerary is enough for make a visa, don't make the ticket first.

In a sense, give them a call (from the number in their website there) if there are something that you are unsure of happy.gif

so on the itinerary, i just list down my "unconfirmed" plans for the day and my "unconfirmed" place of stay? so can i print out the flight deails from the MAS website and hand it to them?

sorry guys for asking so many questions. i'm bringing my wife there for a short honeymoon and don't want anything to go wrong. sweat.gif i'll give the embassy a call tomorrow.

read carefully in their website. it is stated there that credit card statement can also use. if there's problem abg janggut there will tell what you need to do. i've had problems with the 'money in the bank' thinggie before. abg janggut told me to get RM8k from friends or parents just to show them. but it has to be YOUR bank account. they will ask you to provide the real account statement for verification. but seriously, it's much easier if have friends or family in japan thumbup.gif

mmm...for me its really really worth..because I'm teaching Basic Daily Conversation...just 1 note book and 1 text book for me.Then end of the day I give my student to photostat then return to me to next session..even I'm using broken nihon go, but they are still understood me for communication.. brows.gif

Yeah its different rate and benefits too...'baito' as i know, its high than full time..but then baito salary is all inside anything like medical, bla bla..on top of that, transportation allowances and food too! pengalaman saya lah.... nod.gif
