QUOTE(hazzy @ Jul 8 2008, 12:10 AM) hmm hmm, actually, its not a plan, but a preparation. because currently i have 2 sapphire WW living in 1 2ft tank. because i no knowledge about hamster care b4 i buy the hamster, bought a pair of male and female WW because that pet shop la persuade me to buy 2. they still can be slibing, better get a pair from difference location. say 1 subang 1 pj..i dont think they are related, because i pick them from diff tank. but im not really sure about it. gah! is they anyway to make sure of it? ouh yea, theres 1 thing about my hammie. whenever Ebony is playing with the wheel or running all around the tank, Ivory will sure going to follow his ass wherever Ebony is going tapi, if Ivory is playing or running here there, Ebony will never never follow her weirdo QUOTE(hazzy @ Jul 8 2008, 01:12 PM) ouh! theres 1 more thing about my hammie aiyoh.. u better play it saft, even they cat didn't kill the hammi.. hammi headattack also can die loh... make sure it don't happen again.before this, i bought 1 pair of WW, 1 male and 1 female. two days after i bought them, the female WW is dead, and the next i buy another female WW. so here is my Ivory & Ebony but the next day, when im still sleeping (early morning) my father wake me up, and i ask why, he told me that my hamster is being chased with my cat so i went down, and saw my hamster is inside my cat's mouth bu Ebony got luka luka at his ass, so i seperate Ivory from Ebony because i afraid if they will fight till death and the next day, guess what happen when i woke up? i saw Ivory pulak is not in her cage so i went down and saw Ivory pulak in my cat's mouth so Ivory pulak luka on her head. And i cepat2 pegi pet shop and buy medicine for them. but then, Ivory & Ebony is still healthy untill today (hope so) |

QUOTE(nezumitaro @ Jul 8 2008, 10:08 PM) Actually I heard from a persn (he himself also considered a supplire la) that there is only a handful of suppliers providing small animals to petshops. The ones that are not from suppliers are hobbyist and those hamsters only come in small amounts. So if you got 2 hamsters that are about the same age, there's a big possibility that they are siblings or similarly related. Safer to buy 2 of a different age and a different place. @Mike: This kinda thing is happening to petshops all over the place... And it reinforces the fact that syrians ARE solitary and just because we don't see them fight in petshops doesn't mean they don't. |

Wat is the symptoms of him being scared of you/ Run away? Hide, Get defensive and bare fangs?few days d,but he still very scare of me..... -.-" You can try bribing it with food. I do that with mealies (although Ferro still wont take those from my hand). Sometimes fruits and vege also. Put lotsa food in the centre of your palm and wait VERY patiently for Colby to climb on your hand (which should be on top of the bedding) and eat it. Let it get used to it for a few days. Then gently lift your hand a bit from the bedding. When he gets frightened he'll run down again. Wait for him to come back with your hand on the bedding again. Love = patience + sacrifice. Good luck! |

QUOTE(Jamien @ Jul 8 2008, 08:15 PM) Sigh... His hamster had 10 babies lar. He's damn desperate to sell it off. Plus he's a new owner (whom I think never bothered to research) already wanna become a breeder for profit. What to say le? I saw that, I was furious with what he told a newbie. Bloody retarded.QUOTE(neshie @ Jul 8 2008, 08:24 PM) U know what. From his first thread, there was only like what 6-7 babies? and now he has 9? Where on earth did the extra ones come from? oh wait, he breeded them again? You must remember, a hamster can breed every month. He sold his last batch off at 4 weeks old, meaning he did let the male and female breed right after, never let her rest. Poor hamster.... I guess she is gonna die young from overbreeding.I think this dude has serious issues. ==" Oh. He's W.Wah's friend u noe. He's completely irresponsible!! (terrysoh) |

since many pet stores like to put more than 1 syrian in a tank, i would like to ask, does pet shack do the same?
i'm aware that sometimes its more of a space and cost issue instead of people not knowing or not caring |

Pet Shack do put more than one syrian in one tank but only for babies as they haven't be as solitary as adult syrian (4 months old). On top of that, Pet Shack do not take in big quantity and she separate males and females. I also saw her try to separate the older syrians to only 1 or 2 in a tank when the syrian still not sold. One she is still keeping till now. In her own tank with Wodent wheel, eat smoothie everyday. Having good life. Even they are a smaller pet shop, their space not allow them to have each and every syrian have own tank and Wodent wheel ler. i'm aware that sometimes its more of a space and cost issue instead of people not knowing or not caring |

Let's agree that it is not possible for any petshop to give one tank to a single syrian. Plus the hamsters in Pet Shack are well taken care of wat. I think that's good already. Better than many other petshops. |

Patience, YES, definitely! I finally make a miracle in my life, both my robos RUSH to reach my palm and search for mealies DESPERATELY every night, muaaahahaaahaaa! You can try bribing it with food. I've been spending at least 1, to 4 hours every night, for three whole week to feed them food and to touch them sometimes. It's time for me to dominant another breed. Syrians! Actually, I wanna say something but I hope I don't offend anyone here lah.
Sometimes I feel that if people were willing to spend more to buy hamsters, I am sure more pet shops would separate their syrians. It's all a matter of cost. At the end of the day, shop keepers still need to eat ma. For example, if a shop separates syrians into each individual tank, feed fresh foods and Prestige and give 8inch wheels to each hammi, but sell their hammies at RM60 each, would you pay? It's all very easy to say that a lot of pet shops don't care and treat the animals bad but yet they will not pay if the animals are well treated but are priced higher. At the end of the day, I guess what I am trying to say that the buyers who are not willing to pay for 'well-treated' animals are also at fault. I am not pointing fingers at anyone here but I am pointing out what I have noticed.... Sorry, if I have offended anyone yah. |
