Play safe. Don't check on them unnecessary. If your mummy hamster feels it's not safe, she will eat the babies, or abandon them.

About 10-14 days of birth, the hamster babies will start walking around even if their eyes are not open yet. You slowly see them then lo.

I start handling them when they're running around at about 20 days old, and can eat solids already. If the mummy is tame and she comes to you, the babies will learn from her to do the same. That's the benefit of breeding tame hammies.

im back people! biggrin.gif

the moment i came home, my WW looks excited to hear me. Poor baby must hv been neglected when I was away. No one wants to play with it coz it bit my sister before. They do feed it when the food runs out tho

Added on July 12, 2008, 1:54 ambtw is a 5" wheel suitable for a ww?

make it 6" but i think, 6" pun quite small for an adult WW, can fit 1 WW only. smile.gif

==============================================================

Update on my "New Ebony" and Ivory,
currently i put them in 1 tank, they seems ok to live together, but they wont get near to each other.
whenever, the female is going near to the male and try to smell his ass, the male keep squeaking and run away.
but they didnt fight, only squeak2 and run.

should i separate them for a longer time.

the female is almost 2 month old. the male is 1+ old too (if im not mistake right Jayniel?)
but the male is slightly smaller then the female

oh dear.. sorry Tina, but sometime this happen sad.gif

just to let everyone know.. the Uncle Taro Survivor Powder & Staple Powder is availale in Pet Shack.

so if any hammi sick, refuse to eat, need syringe feed, don't panic ok.. just contact Pet Shack, jtl or me. but still u need to bring ur hammi to vet. medication side i canot help. its just a nutrition food which is in powder form for u to syringe feed them. they need energy n nutrtion to keep their body strong, to fight with the sickness also to tahan the medication.

i hope this will help anyone when there is emergency case.

sad.gif Not to say I'm being cruel, but if her kids are dead, it's better if she eats them. Then she can quickly regain back lost nutrients since pregnancy and get back on her feet faster. She will be ready for her next litter better.

Perhaps she didn't know what to do lo. Still, leave her and the kids alone. Maybe they're not moving cuz asleep or something. If they're really dead she will clean up.

Anyhow don't feel sad lar. There's always next time.

hmm, if u want to breed, better breed when the female is 4 months & above.. cos how if they breed now, and Ivory's health deteriorate & die young? when it's 4 months time, Ivory sure can accept Ebony as her mate.. right now, since she's slightly more dominant & there's a possibility of premature breeding, best is u separate loh, since u got another cage smile.gif

Added on July 12, 2008, 10:51 pmi wanna ask ya, if the hamster's teeth naturally grow senget & overgrown, how to cut it? it grows at a very fast rate, so i must cut it often.. i measured my other hamster's teeth length & so i know agak2 how much to cut.. but i don't know cut using wat.. if use nail clipper, will the hamster feel painful? anyone encountered this?

the teeth is overgrown until she cant eat solid food properly.. she cant & dont chew on mineral stones.. anyone can advise? her teeth is very yellow too, i mean dark yellow..
